Position Description:

The G/L Accountant is responsible for the general ledger accounting for several entities. This position is responsible for the preparation, processing, audit and reporting of monthly and quarterly accruals in the accounting system. This position is also responsible for general ledger entries relating to PIMCO Global Offices. Main responsibilities include accounting for complex and industry-specialized transactions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate monthly and quarterly revenue accruals from Billing System and load data to the general ledger
  • Investigate general ledger discrepancies and reconcile Account Receivable sub-ledger to general ledger
  • Analysis of client data and reports as requested by Management and Auditors
  • Prepare monthly journal entries including foreign currency and transfer pricing (Revenue Sharing amongst Foreign business units)
  • Perform research and analysis of accounting data
  • Analyze monthly financial statements
  • Prepare account reconciliations to detail records or sub-ledgers
  • Involvement with special projects or testing of system enhancements
  • Provide and prepare requested document support to internal and external auditors
  • Assist team members as well as offshore internal/external accountants as needed
  • Special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis, and other duties as assigned


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related discipline
  • Minimum of four years of corporate accounting experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel skills and using Pivot tables, VLOOKUP and higher level functions
  • Prior experience with large ERP (financial system) such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft; experience with SAP is preferred
  • Strong understanding and experience using Accounting Principles knowledge
  • Prior work experience with intercompany and/or multicurrency transactions is preferred
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, including the ability to effectively and autonomously problem solve
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage professionally and succinctly with all levels across the firm
  • Strong commitment to providing quality work and ensure work is delivered completely, accurately, and timely
  • Able to respond effectively to inquiries from various levels of management and maintain good working relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Strong sense of urgency and able to organize and prioritize; including handling multiple tasks with strict deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate and contribute in a team environment as well as independently to accomplish business objectives
