Multi-Family Office division ("MFO"), a unit within the Wealth Management Global Investment Office (GIO), partners with Morgan Stanley Financial Advisors across all channels to offer advisory portfolio management services to family office clients of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.
MFO group is looking for an entrepreneurial, ambitious and intellectually curious professional to join the team as an Investment Officer. The Investment Officer will play a vital role in servicing the Firm's Multi-Family Office client segment. In such capacity, the candidate will assist in developing and managing customized multi-asset class portfolios. In addition, the candidate will support the client segment leader and work cross-functionally with internal teams.
Responsibilities include:
• Build and manage client portfolios, including end-to-end development and management of customized portfolio construction, manager selection, investment policy statement construction, portfolio implementation, and ongoing portfolio rebalances and reviews
• Assist in developing an overall investment strategy based on the client's risk/reward profile, objectives and constraints with a deep understanding of approved and "off-platform" traditional and alternative investment managers
• Support the client segment leaders for MFO relationships
• Maintain ongoing, proactive communication with the advisor and the client in managing the relationship
• Produce periodic market and portfolio commentaries
• Maintain multi-asset class portfolios using internal and 3rd party portfolio construction tools and assist in maintenance of the investment database
• Analyze prospect portfolios and assist in producing asset allocations and recommendations for finals presentations
• Interface and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including the Global Investment Manager Analysis team, research, trading, operations, product specialists, third party vendors and custodians

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills Required
• Experience and knowledge in global capital markets, technical expertise across asset classes preferred
• Firm understanding of portfolio management concepts including modern portfolio theory, asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager selection, risk management and performance attribution
• Working knowledge of investment/wealth management platforms and vehicles, including managed account platforms, mutual funds, ETFs, separate accounts and alternative investments
• Familiarity with non-investment services provided to ultra-high net worth clients such as, banking, lending, trusts & estates, and financial planning
• Experience with Bloomberg and relational databases
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
• Must be very detail-oriented, with an ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
• Technical background with strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and effectively on a team, with demonstrated leadership abilities
• Proactive and hard working with strong professional accountability Qualifications
• 6-10 years of investment-related experience, with experience working in a single-/multi-family office or managing family office portfolios at a wealth management or investment consulting firm
• BA/BS is required with degree coursework in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Statistics preferred
• Master's Degree, CFA, CAIA and other professional designations (or progress towards earning such) is a plus
• The ability of obtain FINRA Series 7 and 66 is required (additional licensing may be required as well)
