ARTEMIS CAPITAL MANAGEMENT is seeking a talented COO/DOO/CCO to manage business operations, strategy, compliance, and accounting for the firm. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to work at a respected and growing macro derivatives-focused hedge fund with institutional clients globally. Artemis has a flat leadership structure with a small, creative, and tight-knit team of nine members. Your voice will matter greatly in guiding the growth of the firm. He/she will work under the supervision of the Founder/CIO but will independently lead and manage operations with direct oversight of two junior employees. The role requires an analytical, detailed oriented professional with understanding of regulatory compliance, hedge fund operations, institutional diligence, and financial instruments. Legal and/or accounting experience preferred. COO/DOO is also expected to be a calming leader and mentor to junior team members, but also able to efficiently execute work themselves. The role will also involve serving as a mentor in our internship program for underprivileged youth. The highest ethical standards are expected.

The role is ideal for either:

1) Experienced but deputy-level professional ready to take a leap forward in her or his career;

2) Established director-level hire with transferable experience.

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in RIA/CPO/or Fund compliance, diligence, back office, and accounting
  • Core understanding of hedge fund structures and single managed accounts
  • Strong understanding of derivatives and financial markets
  • Knowledge and ability to speak credibly to institutions, regulators, consultants, employees, and service providers.
  • Leadership, Culture and Team Building Skills, and ability to manage/mentor junior personnel
  • Understanding of financial markets and derivatives products
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite, and standard accounting software
  • Self-starter who is capable of working independently
  • Extreme attention to detail and able to manage deadlines among team and self
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

Preferred Types of Experiences or Credentials (all NOT required)
  • Operations & compliance experience at an Hedge Fund (Senior or Deputy level)
  • Demonstrated experience with equity derivatives preffered
  • Big 5 Accounting Firm Experience (ideally focused on hedge funds or RIAs)
  • Experience at Major Consultant conducting diligence on hedge funds (Senior or Deputy)
  • Legal or paralegal experience
  • CAIA, CPA, CFA, MBA, or JD

Role Responsibilities:
  • Executive firm-wide regulatory compliance with SEC, NFA, and other regulatory bodies
  • Oversee and update fund documentation (including, but not limited to: PPM, DDQ, Subscription Docs, Side Letters)
  • Maintain and negotiate third-party and service provider relationships
  • Oversee accounting and firm internal controls
  • Manage investor on-boarding, compliance, and treasury functions with third-party-administrator
  • Managed outsourced back-office trade reconciliation process with traders
  • Independently lead due diligence meetings with investors and consultants
  • Work with external accounting firm and third-party administrator to execute annual audits for two funds
  • Act as key person to prepare for and execute regulatory audits and routine updates (SEC, CFTC, TSSB)
  • Oversee marketing materials and digital marketing efforts to ensure compliance
  • Support and collaborate with: Prime Broker, EMS/OMS, Accountant, Lawyer, Administrator
