The Senior Investment Analyst will work as an integral part of Arlington’s investment team that is responsible for all asset allocation, portfolio management, investment due diligence and monitoring, and trading.  This role with have the opportunity to combine both senior-level research and investment due diligence responsibilities with a more active investment-centric client-facing role if desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take a leadership role (and/or actively participate) in investment research and due diligence assignments around investments in fund managers, direct private equity & real estate deals and co-investments.
  • Work with team to execute, monitor and assess existing portfolio investments.
  • Provide leadership and assistance around investment-related functions such as portfolio strategy and management, manager research and diligence, and trading operations.
  • Participate in analyzing client portfolios to determine appropriate asset allocations and strategies that fit current investment environment.
  • Assist Family Wealth Advisors to gain familiarity with clients’ risk/return profiles and family objectives to provide portfolio management recommendations and actively participate in client meetings when needed.
  • Assist team in performing various research responsibilities and maintaining our research management system.
  • Assist in developing and/or improving new and existing investment systems, processes and models.
  • Review quarterly client performance reports and act when needed.
  • Provide support/advice to Investment Committee.
  • Assist in producing and reviewing monthly/quarterly monitoring reports.
  • Participate in a cross-training program focused on trading and other operational tasks.

  • Experience—At least 5-10 years working directly in investment research and investment due diligence. Experience in client relationships is a plus.  A deep passion and understanding of the financial markets.  An entrepreneurial and self-motivated spirit with a desire to serve our family clients.
  • Education—Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.  Accounting/finance majors preferred.
  • Language skills—Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals and professional journals.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and clients.
  • Mathematical Skills— Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, discounted cash flow, and internal rates of return.  Ability to develop and understand detailed, complex financial modelling for M&A and asset valuation purposes.
  • Computer Skills— Must possess strong working knowledge of PC environment, Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.  Experience with Bloomberg and Morningstar Direct platforms are a plus.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations— CFA required.
