About this role

What team will you be on?

The Institutional Product Strategy (IPS) team sits at the intersection of BlackRock's distribution and investment areas. IPS drives the company's investment product commercial priorities for North American institutional investors, reporting to the Head of the Global Product Group. Our mission is to deliver the right product to the right client at the right time. We do this by collaborating across BlackRock to align product marketing and development efforts with the needs of our institutional clients. Our remit spans both public and private asset classes, and requires frequent interaction at the most senior levels of the firm, principally across the US & Canada Institutional Client Business, investment groups, product development teams, and corporate functions.

Why is your role important?
The IPS team is looking for a Vice President to lead our product commercialization efforts for the US Pensions client segment. This role is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in setting strategic direction for our institutional sales organization. The successful candidate will have a tangible impact on the firm's revenue growth in the US Pensions market. S/he will be an indispensable partner to our Institutional Client Business leaders, to drive commercial opportunities and inform strategic product initiatives. The role is highly visible with senior leaders at the firm due to its breadth and unique position at the crossroads of our investment and distribution functions, and affords the opportunity to work on high-priority projects for the firm.

What will you be doing?
  • Authoring thematic content on market trends impacting US Pensions and offering "best ideas" for implementation in portfolios
  • Curating external-facing marketing materials and sales activation resources for relationship management teams
  • Joining discussions with US Pensions clients and prospects to provide expertise on institutional client trends
  • Synthesizing competitor intelligence to improve product marketing narratives and to guide timely product campaigns
  • Advising investment teams on product development in areas of high client demand, where BlackRock has a unique value proposition


What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree required (MBA, CFA a plus)
  • 6+ years' prior experience, preferred in asset management, even better if in product marketing, sales business management, product strategy/client portfolio management, institutional private fundraising
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics
  • Knowledge of the prevalent market trends and investment product needs of US pension funds is highly valued
  • Series 7 and 63 highly desired, must be attained within six months of hire if not already licensed
  • Familiarity with eVestment and Preqin market data tools is a bonus
