Who we are looking for
State Street's Automation and Artificial Intelligence is a strategic global team with members located in Austin, Boston, Hangzhou and Hyderabad. We have the mission to explore, enable and exploit artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision and cognitive computing at scale for multiple use cases across Global Delivery, Global Advisors, Global Markets and Digital business lines. The team has a mix of AI technology, quantitative modeling, data science, financial engineering, and software engineering capabilities. We are seeking to hire an experienced professional that has led Data Science teams and has the potential to contribute effectively to our solutions for operational efficiency, investment and risk management, or client experience related domains.

This role can potentially be performed fully remotely from home within Texas, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, or California.

What you will be responsible for
As Senior Data Scientist, AI - Vice President you will
  • Design rigorous and statistically valid data science, machine learning use case hypotheses, with detailed data requirement definition, feature selection, machine learning and deep-learning based technique identification and success metrics definition.
  • Lead system change process from requirements through implementation; provide user and operational support of application to business users
  • Provide expertise in proof of concept development and prioritization,
  • Understand and utilize structured and unstructured data from across our business units
  • Build shared models, libraries, methodologies and leading practices
  • Productionize the research models, build & maintain services that encase these models and partner with engineering teams using these services.Ultimately research and build predictive systems and intelligent automation that enable smarter business decisions and improved customer experience
  • Stay up to date about latest development in this area by identifying relevant emerging Data Science techniques, tools and proven cases in banking and other industries.
  • Lead and coach a team of talented data scientists and ML engineers for solving a rich set of challenging problems

Education & Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree required (preferably in computer science, quantitative finance, or financial engineering. Ph.D. preferred)
  • Project experience with classical AI/ML algorithms and familiar with deep learning neural network like various CNN and RNN based models and comfortable with natural language processing and computer vision algorithms.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented or functional programming and design experience (Python, C++, SQL)
  • Experience with Data Science and Machine Learning Frameworks (TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Apache Spark / MLlib etc.)
  • Solid background in mathematics including but not limited to statistics, probability theory, PDE, linear algebra, stochastic calculus, differential equations etc.

Additional requirements
  • Preferred: Prior data scientist role in financial institution and model validation experience
  • Preferred: Prior risk and investment management experience in asset management industry
  • Preferred: Linux / Bash scripting, structured and unstructured data management tools (Snowflake, Graph DB, PostgreSQL, Hadoop, etc.)
  • Preferred: Continuous integration & development environments and tools (Azure, AWS, GIT, Maven, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Preferred: Charted Financial Analyst (CFA)
