The New Jersey Department of the Treasury, Division of Investment seeks an Investment Analyst Trainee who will participate and assist in the process of evaluating and monitoring investments. Candidates should have exceptional communication skills and understanding of financial markets, alternative investments and pension funds. 

 

 

 

The responsibilities of the Investment Analyst Trainee include: gathering, collecting, documenting and storing data and other pertinent information; reporting to a senior member and reviewing financial statements and reports; monitoring current events and market trends; assisting Investment Analysts and asset class Portfolio Managers in executing a plan to prudently invest towards the desired long-term target allocation in the applicable asset class(es); sourcing attractive investment opportunities in the applicable asset class(es) and performing due diligence alongside Investment analysts and portfolio managers; monitoring performance of existing funds on a monthly/quarterly basis; writing meeting, call and diligence notes; preparing investment presentation materials for the asset class Portfolio Manager, Internal Investment Committee, Director of the Division, the Investment Policy Committee, and the State Investment Council for approval; assisting in special projects; organizing meetings and agendas; and other administrative tasks, as needed.

 

 

 

In addition, the Investment Analyst Trainee must have high ethical standards and an understanding of fiduciary responsibility; strong written and oral communication skills; exceptional MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint skills; an understanding of financial markets, capital structures and alternative investments; an interest in pursuing a career in institutional investing and alternative investments; a willingness to be coached, take the initiative, and learn new things; an ability to work in an environment characterized by change. The Investment Analyst Trainee will work within the following alternative

 

investment asset classes: Risk Mitigation, Real Estate, Real Assets, Private Credit and Private Equity.

 

 

 

SALARY: Starting salary is $54,390.80 with an increase to $56,893.23 after 6 months of employment and satisfactory performance. A comprehensive benefits package is offered.

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by eighteen (18) semester hour credits in any one or combination of the following areas: accounting, finance, money and banking, statistics, economics or investments.

 

 

 

All submissions must include a copy of degree and/or transcripts (official/unofficial) documenting possession of degree and the specified credits.

 

 

 

 

 

NOTE FOR FOREIGN DEGREES: Degrees and/or transcripts issued by a college or university outside of the United States must be evaluated for accreditation by a reputable evaluation service at your expense. The evaluation must be included with your submission. Failure to submit the required evaluation may result in an ineligibility determination.
