JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:

William Blair Investment Management is seeking an experienced financial writer and content project manager to be part of our Investment Management Marketing team.  The financial writer and content project manager will be responsible for collaborating with the broader Investment Management Marketing team and our investment teams to develop compelling content that promotes William Blair’s investment management brand and to engage our target audiences. The qualified candidate will see pieces through from creation to completion, including managing the process between authors and reviewers, design and/or video production management, compliance review, posting, project tracking and basic data analysis. 

  • Interview and collaborate with investment teams (portfolio managers, analysts, and portfolio specialists), sales and client service teams, and marketing colleagues to create thought leadership that helps drive engagement
  • Apply industry knowledge, editing, and writing skills to conceive, develop, and create thought leadership in multiple formats and across a variety of media, including white papers, blog articles, social media, strategy overviews, the web, and videos
  • Write compelling content that drives digital engagement
  • Contribute ideas to help make content relevant, accessible, and actionable
  • Maintain appropriate parts of team project management software
  • Review and maintain editorial standards in firm bios 
  • Write email content
  • Develop media partner content—banner ads, sponsored content, etc.
  • Update brochure content, quarterly or annually
  • Oversee the creation of presentations for special events and town halls
  • Assist with the creation of videos
  • Manage the creation of event deliverables, including signage, gifts, and conference booklet
  • Assist with department specific internal communications programs
  • Handle other ad-hoc content-related tasks 
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years of financial journalism experience, preferably with an asset-management firm
  • Familiarity with Salesforce a plus
  • Completion of Series 7 and 66 within first 3 months of service
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent project management and communications skills
  • Deep knowledge of capital markets and macroeconomic topics
  • Experience writing and editing documents with a range of complexity from blog posts to white papers
  • Ability to adjust tone and message for specific audiences and diverse formats
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
