Based in the Midlands

LGPS Central Limited has been established to consolidate and manage the pension fund assets of nine Midland's based public funds.

We are looking for an experienced analyst to join our Investments Private Markets team based in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Portfolio Manager for Private Markets.

The Analyst will work closely with our Portfolio Managers and a number of other internal and external stakeholders across Private Equities and Property and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will hold a Relevant degree and/or professional qualification or experience of working in a financial environment, IMC gained and/or working towards CFA qualification or similar/or relevant investment experience would be a plus.

Role Overview:

Based in Wolverhampton, the successful candidate will work across the Private Markets team to deliver high quality investment analysis across all relevant asset classes: Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Equity and Private Debt.

Key tasks:
  • Working on the establishment of new fund vehicles
  • Assisting in the analysis of potential investments
  • Performance management and reporting
  • Liaison with investors and third party managers

Reports to:

A Senior Portfolio Manager who will have responsibility for line management and day-to-day staffing on projects

Relationships - Internal:

Executive Directors, Non-Executive Directors, Heads of Service, Investment Directors and other LGPSC staff

Relationships - External: Partner Funds, service providers, fund managers and other LGPS Pool entities

Core Specification:
  • Take an active part in the launch and maintenance of new funds.
  • Lead on the production of quarterly and annual investment reporting.
  • Assist in the sourcing, analysing and recommending of potential investments and ensure compliance with the manager selection process.
  • Assist with financial, legal, and commercial due diligence on target investments and lead on producing due diligence reports.
  • Support the team in the monitoring of externally managed investments.
  • Assist in the integration and maintenance of the house view on Responsible Investment & ESG within Private Market investments.
  • Ensure that LGPS Central's Risk and Compliance Framework is adhered to during all stages of the investment process.
  • Contribute to investment team meetings.
  • Assist in the training of more junior team members
  • Promote LGPS Central within the investment community and with Partner Funds.
  • Embrace a culture of high-performing, collaborative, research-based and responsible investing across LGPS Central.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Competence:
  • Experience of investment processes within Private Market asset classes, preferably gained with an asset manager or other financial institution.
  • Knowledge of the Private Markets investment landscapes and understanding of the inherent risk-reward relationship
  • Demonstrated skill in originating, analysing and recommending investments
  • IMC gained and working towards CFA qualification or similar, or relevant investment experience would be an advantage
  • Highly organised, proactive and motivated self-starter.
  • High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas.
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills.
  • First class interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.

Qualifications:
  • Educated to degree level.
  • IMC gained and working towards CFA qualification or similar, or relevant investment experience would be an advantage
