Business Development Engineer
TransGlobe Energy is currently seeking a Business Development Engineer to join our team in Calgary. The incumbent will play a key role in evaluating potential oil and gas transactions both domestically and internationally with a key focus on leading review and valuation determination of deals as well as preparation of board materials and competitor analysis. The role will require expertise in financial modelling, reservoir performance and reserves evaluation, decline analysis, budgeting, project economics and understanding of corporate finance and equity markets. The role will report directly to the Director of Business Development and Planning.

Position Responsibilities and Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Prepare technical and economic evaluations and provide bid recommendations for oil and gas transactions
- Prepare board presentation materials for budgeting, strategy and M&A purposes
- Build financial models for international oil and gas business development opportunities
- Prepare pro forma financial models and accretion/dilution evaluations
- Build a coverage list and track a portfolio of public company comparables for benchmarking and potential M&A purposes
- Review and prepare analysis of financial reports for business development purposes
- Tax modelling and financial structure analysis for potential business combinations
- Coordinate and work with multiple departments and stakeholders
- Other commercial and contract reviews on an as required basis
Qualifications:
Experience & Education
- 5 to 10 years of previous reservoir or exploitation engineering experience
- 2+ years’ experience in oil and gas investment banking research or finance
- CFA Level II or higher or equivalent corporate financial experience would be advantageous
- P. Eng. designation
- Previous capital budgeting and project economics experience
- Proven ability to analyze and understand complex information quickly and develop practical, appropriate review material to aid in business decision making
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, ValNav and Accumap
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing work priorities and deliver high quality, accurate work with tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have ability to work with all levels of the organization and with multiple disciplines
- May be required to deliver presentations to senior management and/or board of directors
- Although not required, proficiency in Arabic would be favorable
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Ability to travel internationally periodically
