Overview

This role will predominately focus on supporting our LDI business through investment strategy design, thought leadership, ad-hoc analysis and client/prospect engagement.   

Responsibilities

Investment Strategy:

  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the LDI portfolios, including rationale for positioning, macro views, and drivers of performance
  • Develop prospect/client strategies to ensure they are optimized for prospect/client-specific investment objectives and constraints
  • Develop and maintain broad knowledge of current investment market, economic issues, building block strategies, and LGIMA firm views, and in-depth specialist knowledge in product focus area.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of market instruments applicable to the assigned prospect/client
  • Oversee development of systems for modeling/monitoring risk where appropriate

External Engagement:

  • Prepare presentations to investment consultants, clients and prospects
  • Oversee periodic update of strategy collateral as well as help develop new material
  • Help support the management, retention and development of external relationships in partnership with Distribution and Client Strategy; identify and execute opportunities to expand and enhance strategic client/prospect/consultant partnerships where appropriate
  • Communicate externally on all areas of our partnership, including investment strategy, performance attribution, macroeconomic landscape and L&G and LGIM America firm structure via review meeting
  • Use technical expertise to explain the outcomes of analysis and obtain agreement on appropriate actions with the relevant parties.
  • Work with the prospect/client and LGIM America investment teams to adopt mutually acceptable investment guidelines where applicable
  • Oversee production of specialist reporting as required
  • Respond in timely, comprehensive manner to ad hoc prospect, client, consultant and third party requests related to the investment strategy
  • Work closely with Distribution, Client Strategy and Onboarding teams to establish and implement client mandates where appropriate

Thought Leadership:

  • Partner with Investment teams to produce and publish research/white papers that demonstrate LGIM America’s thought leadership innovation and support our value proposition to the marketplace
  • Produce written market commentary for (monthly, quarterly) dissemination to prospects/clients/consultants as appropriate (function specific)
  • Represent LGIM America at conference events where appropriate
  • Partner with Product group where appropriate to facilitate and support new product development and launch

Culture and Internal Engagement:

  • Maintain and promote client centric solutions-focused culture
  • Work collaboratively and constructively with LGIMA internal groups on a day-to-day basis
  • Promote information sharing and leveraging new ideas and best practices across the firm
  • Development and mentoring of colleagues
  • Offering support and assistance to other colleagues when needed
  • Oversee documentation of meeting notes and follow-up items, incorporating client feedback, in Salesforce
  • Teamwork (own contributions and enhance contribution of others), including product management and contribution to the evolution of LGIMA’s product and solution offerings

Qualifications

  • A strong fixed income background is strongly preferred for this role, with experience in active fixed income, custom LDI strategies and / or derivative markets
  • Broad knowledge covering investment products, the pension industry, corporate finance, and relevant law is also desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter and team player
  • 3 - 5 years investment management experience
  • Bachelor degree required, MBA and/or CFA preferred
