Job Title: Investment Professional, Public Markets

Role

The investment professional will help screen, evaluate, recommend, and monitor investments across public markets including cash, fixed income & credit, equities and hedge funds. The investment professional will report to the head of public markets.

Organization

The family office is based in Houston and manages a family portfolio and a private foundation. The family office invests across asset classes and is divided into (1) public, which includes cash, fixed income & credit, equities, hedge funds (equity long/short, credit, multi-strategy, global macro) and (2) private, which includes private equity and real estate. Collaborative style, small investment team of six investment professionals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Screening for and analyzing potential investments
  • Meeting with investment managers and participating in due diligence and market calls
  • Preparing investment team and investment committee materials
  • Presenting and discussing due diligence findings with the investment team and investment committee
  • Monitoring existing investments and reviewing related reporting
  • Maintaining and building internal models and relevant supporting software platforms
  • Aiding in the monitoring of market/economic trends

Requirements

  • 2-8 years of relevant experience such as: manager due diligence, equity research, portfolio management, corporate finance, accounting, investment banking
  • Well-rounded resume with a strong desire to be in Houston
  • Sound judgement and high ethical and professional standards
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities
  • Strong writing and presentation skills
  • High level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Excel
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Self-starter mentality
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, eVestment, Morningstar, Backstop is a plus
  • CFA and/or CAIA are a plus
