Business Group Overview:

BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI) - BlackRock's Alternatives platform - includes Private Credit, Private Equity, Real Assets (Real Estate and Infrastructure), Hedge Funds and Alternative Solutions, with offerings across each of the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions as well as the breadth of the risk-return spectrum. As at 31 December 2020, BlackRock managed US$294bn of Alternatives client assets (including 'dry powder'), structured as commingled vehicles, multi-manager programs and customized separate accounts.

Role Description:

BAI's Executive team in APAC is seeking an Associate to assist with business strategy, platform operations and talent initiatives in the Asia Pacific region. The position will be based in Hong Kong and the candidate will support key platform projects, be the point person for Alternatives-related queries, business management tasks and drive connectivity among our teams and with business partners on a day-to-day basis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support BAI's strategic initiatives in APAC, working closely with investment colleagues across BAI groups as well as business partners
  • Work closely with BAI business leaders to prepare presentations and management updates for various committees and other senior internal and external audiences
  • Represent the entire platform and act as a conduit for BAI to Client Business teams and other busines partners in terms of strategy, projects, fund campaigns, product pipeline, talent agenda etc.
  • Support the governance of all Alternatives-related activities in region and serve as point of escalation for regional BAI teams and partners on operating events, processes etc.
  • Lead talent initiatives, new joiner onboarding and social events to enhance regional connectivity


Skills/Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of comparable industry experience, e.g., investment management, investment banking, management consulting, etc.
  • Experience/demonstrated interest in business strategy, project management, investing, finance and/or operations
  • Previous background in Alternative Investments would be strongly preferred
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Strong prioritization skills with flexibility to address urgent business needs while also delivering on longer-term deliverables
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; strategic and creative thinking aptitude
  • Ability to clearly, efficiently, and effectively articulate ideas, both written and oral, to internal and external audiences across various levels of seniority
  • Excellent judgment with particular focus on the immediate escalation of business risks or concerns to senior team members and colleagues
  • Partnership orientated - Demonstrates a collaborative and cooperative approach to tasks and ability to lead by example - high ethical standards and strong work ethic
  • Desire to work in a high-energy environment with a dedicated commitment to excellence
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and MS Excel
  • CFA or CAIA designations preferred
  • Additional regional Asian language skills welcomed
