About Us

IHS Markit's Global Strategic Advisory Group team is seeking a highly consultative Operations and Business Manager to join its dynamic global team. We are a unique team that has an entrepreneurial mindset, covering three exciting business areas in the Issuer Solutions segment, namely ESG, Corporate Governance and M&A Advisory.

As our Operations and Business Manager, you will play an essential role at our team by managing the core processes that support day-to-day operations and growth. This is a role that "wears many hats," and is critical to the smooth functioning of our business and constantly seeks opportunities to optimize systems and process design across the three areas of the team, ESG, Corporate Governance and M&A services. Responsibilities span across many domains of the team including finance, operations, HR, product support and culture building. In this role, your work will directly inform business decisions based on a close-in, data-driven understanding of the teams financial and operational picture. You will also be owning discrete streams of work, building, and improving the ways we operate as a team within our group, as well as with other IHS Markit teams and regions. This is a central role within the team, in time becoming a go-to person on a myriad of matters.

Your Role

Finance:
  • Serve as strategic thought partner to the team's management and finances
  • Support our team's financial data and reporting; manage monthly reporting cadence and quarterly deeper dives into analysis. Prepare analyses of business financial performance to be shared with internal leadership and the broader team
  • Own internal financial processes such as AP
  • Interface with our global finance, operations teams to stay on top of processes and requirements (incl. legal)


Business Operations:
  • Own or support a number of ongoing operational streams of work, sales enablement, marketing and content management/tracking and liaison with ESG, CG and M&A leads within the group
  • Help build and maintain our systems of knowledge management, including owning our firm's operations manual
  • Support special projects relating to firm operations and production, incl. managing research tasks and deadlines, content deliverable preparation as well as calendar and deadline management
  • Identify key operational risks and seek to implement suitably mitigated in partnership with wider risk and compliance teams
  • Work with management on goal and strategy development and continuously track progress and achievements


Human Resources:
  • Support various people-related functions, including onboarding operations, cross-team initiatives
  • Support and own the recruiting and onboarding processes, working with hiring managers and team members to run effectively add and onboard new team members
  • Play a central role in the building and maintaining of firm culture, helping ideate and organize team events and ways of coming together


About You

We're looking for someone midlevel in their career who can jump in to play a major role in the operations of our growing team with exciting product and growth opportunities globally. Experience working with corporate finance, leading internal operations, and wearing multiple operational hats are all desirable for this role. However, we care most about drive and the ability to learn, as the right candidate will be someone who can quickly learn to do things they have never done before.

Skills and Qualification desired:
  • University degree required. Advanced degree and/or CFA designation preferred
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint, Planner, Access, Citrix
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and interpretation skills
  • Responsive to the needs of our global research team, responding to requests within a reasonable time frame
  • Prefer familiarity with FactSet, Bloomberg, Reuters, Sales Force etc
  • Previous experience with Jira Core will be beneficial
