At the end of 2020, S&P DJI estimates that USD 13.5 trillion was indexed or benchmarked to the S&P 500 alone.

The Role:
The US Equity Indices Product Management team is seeking a Director to support and promote our core index franchise. This role will oversee some of the most iconic indices in the world including the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) as well as core, style (value & growth), sector & industry, and equal weight indices.

The Team:
This role will report to the Head of US Equity Indices, based in the U.S. This is an exciting opportunity to build a small team in London. The intention is for the new Director to hire a second team member in London within a year of hire date.

Responsibilities:
  • Act as a global brand ambassador and spokesperson
  • Create product strategies, develop product positioning, and help to drive the commercial success of our franchise, especially outside of the U.S.
  • Quickly become a subject matter expert on index methodologies
  • Proactively promote our indices via webinars, conferences, media appearances, and client meetings
  • Publish thought leadership including presentations, papers, blogs, index analysis, and commentary
  • Oversee the new index launch process
  • Partner with client coverage and channel management to strengthen our relationships with all client types
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal teams including research & design, marketing, the client experience team, governance, the index management and production group, and communications.
What we're looking for:
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent in finance or a related field
  • A good understanding of the investment process, investment management industry, portfolio theory, and financial markets
  • Proven track record in product development and/or research
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills as well as attention to detail
  • First class communication skills - written, verbal and presenting
  • Fluency in English
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Progress towards a CFA charter
  • Knowledge of indexing, passive investing and understanding of S&P DJI core equity indices
  • Programming skills (Python, VBA, others)
  • Knowledge of analytical platforms such as FactSet, Capital IQ, Bloomberg, MSCI / Barra, or Axioma
