Position Description:

Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) seeks a Quantitative Research Analyst for its Newport Beach, CA location. Job ID 32579

Duties: Apply statistical, optimization, and probability methods together with Economic and Finance theories to build systematic trading models for Client Analytics and Solutions teams. Conduct research, develop internal infrastructure, and build analytical tools to support development of systematic strategies and trading models. Research, evaluate and utilize alternative new data sources with an emphasis on effectively positioning data, ingesting data and understanding the implications of data. Engage in fund modelling and back-test analysis for different trading strategies across various asset classes. Collaborate with specialist Portfolio Managers to understand market factors and build strategies to systematically capitalize on inefficiencies. Conduct exploratory research to identify inefficiencies using statistical approaches. Analyze model performance, portfolio construction and optimization in the presence of real-world constraints, as well as transaction cost analysis (TCA) and risk management. Perform portfolio level analytics, including portfolio optimization, risk profile analysis, stress test and factor analysis. Lead the development of Application Programming interface and quantitative tools for the quantitative desk.

Position Requirements:

Must have a Master's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or related quantitative field. Required experience and/or academic coursework must include: Performing quantitative research utilizing mathematical, statistical, optimization, and probability theories and tools, including multi-horizon optimization, statistical inference, convex programming, stochastic differential equations, stochastic process, martingale theory, Monte Carlo simulations, financial derivative theories, differential equations, Hidden Markov model, and error correction; Utilizing SQL to access databases for quantitative research; Conducting regression analysis and factor analysis to identify signal alphas and evaluate strategies; Programming in Python and R to code strategies and analytics tools in support of risk analysis; Conducting back-testing to analyze historical data, and testing historical performance using time series analysis; Evaluating performance of funds and strategies using statistical analysis including VAR, drawdown analysis, Sharpe Ratio, skewness, and z-score; Conducting financial forecasting on risk profiles and asset performance of historical data using Bootstrap and Monte Carlo simulations.
