The Team:
The establishment of the Global Infrastructure ratings practice by S&P Global Ratings was to facilitate an expansion of our ratings franchise in an area of strong growth and to leverage our significant global infrastructure expertise across the full range of infrastructure asset classes. Analytical team members reside in 16 locations globally and work on a diverse range of transactions applying different ratings criteria, predominantly for project finance and corporate debt issuers.

We also work on transactions in partnership with other practices on a regular basis.

Effective teamwork and a thoughtful approach to problem solving are highly valued.

The North American Energy Infrastructure ratings team is a high growth and fast paced environment with a collaborative and friendly atmosphere. The primary sector focus is on midstream, refining, unregulated power, and LNG as well as the application of corporate, project finance, and project developer criteria.

The Role:

We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our growing and dynamic North American Energy Infrastructure ratings ream as an Associate based in New York. The role includes maintaining analytical responsibility for a portfolio of rated issuers as well as managing the external relationship with those issuers. Your ability to confidently and knowledgably respond to analytic questions, as well as to credibly and consistently represent S&P Global Ratings in management meetings and with investors will have a significant impact on the organization as a whole.

Key Responsibilities:

An Associate within the Global Infrastructure Practice undertakes rigorous analytical work and is proficient in conducting research and fundamental credit analysis, analyzing financial statements, building financial models and forecasts, and writing analytical reports on rated corporate and project finance entities. The successful candidate can work effectively in a fast-paced environment, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, is customer-oriented, and demonstrates excellent presentation skills in front of internal and external audiences.

Specifically, in this role, you will:
  • Act as the Primary Analyst on a portfolio of credits
  • Ongoing surveillance and rating recommendations
  • Presentation of analytical findings to internal and external constituencies
  • Be proficient in multiple criteria including project finance, corporates, and project developers
  • Work on new issuers, rating evaluations services, ESG evaluations, and green bond evaluations
  • Contribute to commentaries and through leadership articles
  • Work with junior team members; including coaching, training, and mentoring
The successful candidate will be comfortable in an environment of continuous improvement and high customer service standards while adhering to established ratings criteria, policies, and procedures.

What we are looking for:
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Solid, demonstrable experience (3+ years) within a large commercial bank, investment bank, investing institution/asset manager, rating agency, or an audit company working in the field of credit analysis of multinational corporations.
  • Working knowledge of energy infrastructure including unregulated power, midstream, refining, and LNG
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills as well as the capacity to expand, learn, and contribute
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
  • Possess the ability to coach and mentor junior analytical staff in a constructive manner
  • Strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint and database application skills. Ability to prepare forecasts based upon reasoned assumptions will be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics and/or CFA preferred
  • Programming skills including Python
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $67,600 to $130,100. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
