Analyst, Investment Operations
The Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation is currently seeking an analyst to join our investment team in Saskatoon. The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has inspired and supported teaching and learning excellence in public education for more than 80 years. We are a professional organization of over 13,500 teachers employed in PreK-12 publicly funded schools across the province who are trusted and respected leaders and partners in education.
The STF investment team manages one of the largest investment portfolios in Saskatchewan on behalf of the teachers in the province. The team is actively focused on building its alternative investment platform which includes real estate, infrastructure and private equity. This position will provide oversight and direction to the administrative, accounting and computer platforms for all investment functions. The analyst is also responsible for administering a performance measurement system to evaluate the effective utilization of assets totaling approximately $7 billion.
Responsibilities include: administration, development and implementation of efficient processes and workflows in support of the Federation’s changing investment model; supervision of custodial activities, including trade settlement, income collection, corporate actions, cash management and related account reconciliations; and design, development and implementation enhancements to the work unit’s information systems.
Typically, the skills and abilities for this position are acquired by the completion of an undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field, combined with 3-5 years of related experience. A professional accounting designation is an asset. A solid understanding of accounting principles and investment administration is a definite requirement. Serious consideration will be given to those who do not have 3-5 years of experience but have a strong desire to begin a career in investment management.
