Our Commercial Banking division has a rich heritage of supporting businesses and the economic prosperity of the nation. Primarily focused on UK businesses and those with strong links to the UK. We provide customers with the support they need to help them grow, manage risk and improve efficiency. We continue to invest in our relationship teams and deepen our product expertise to ensure we deliver first class service.

Capital Structure Advisory (CSA) exists to drive incremental origination of debt financing mandates and works in partnerships with relationship managers and product experts. CSA achieves this through delivering client insight, proposing client solutions and partnering delivery and execution.

More specifically, CSA develops and delivers capital structure and ratings advisory solutions to corporate clients.

The team is responsible for proactive idea generation and producing product-agnostic pitches to corporate clients undergoing complex financing transactions, often in event-driven situations including Mergers and acquisitions (M&A), disposals, restructuring and/or refinancing scenarios. Furthermore, the team provides insight into how credit rating agencies assess clients and assign credit ratings to corporates at the issuer and/or instrument level.

Typical projects include analysing the pro forma impact of M&A, re-organisations, disposals, IPOs and other material events on the capital structure and credit metrics of clients (incl. credit rating agency ratios), estimating debt capacity, appropriate debt levels, debt structures, liquidity and performing peer benchmarking.

To deliver this purpose, you will partner with industry Relationship Managers and Product Partners (incl. loan syndications and debt capital markets) to produce analytical (and often multi-product) pitching material to inform clients' decision making and promote Lloyds Bank's diverse product offering.

You will support the wider team in delivering its purpose, specifically focused on research, analysis, financial modelling and will partner others in the team in pitching and execution work as required.

Accountabilities;
  • Qualitative and thematic research
  • Quantitative research and data analysis (e.g. market-wide data analysis and presentation)
  • Financial modelling (including rating agency adjustments)
  • Supporting execution work (e.g. preparation of Ratings Memoranda)
  • Support the CSA team in the development, preparation and delivery of insightful client pitches and solutions.
  • Build a strong network across S&SF, CIC and the broader LBG to help spot and pursue opportunities and join up and enhance client delivery.

Requirements;
  • 1-2 years' experience in a similar role - corporate finance, credit analysis or of the work of rating agencies - and an awareness of key principles of financing products and market participants.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and forecast (based on simple assumptions) corporate financial accounts and familiarity / experience preparing and sensitising 3-statement and cashflow-based financial models
  • Fluency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, with the latter focused on financial modelling
  • Formal credit training

Desirable;
  • Strong degree and relevant post graduate professional qualification (e.g. CFA, ACA).
