In the Retirement Group (RG), we're on the frontlines of America's retirement crisis, leveraging our unique capabilities to make it easier for people to save through their employers' workplace savings plan.

We're a tight-knit group of about 100 BlackRock-ers who believe that everyone should be able to retire with dignity!

Your team

The RG Plan Strategy Team supports the RG business through its three pillars of work. We 1) build, manage, and enhance RG digital tools , 2) develop and run RG custom analytics , and 3) contribute to retirement-related thought leadership .

Your role and impact

As a new team member, you will have a heavy emphasis on data driven research and development to support all three of the team's pillars. You will learn and employ data science, analytical finance, behavioral finance, psychology, and programming in order to accomplish your multifaceted responsibilities. Some of the tools and analytics you will work on include: LifePath Spending Tool (for retirees), LifePath Selector Tool (for LifePath participants), Future-in-Focus and Target Date Explorer (for financial advisors), and Participant Data Analysis (for institutional plan sponsors).

Your responsibilities
  • Apply quantitative techniques and models, coupled with specific market experience to stress test/risk analyze existing strategies and the impact on participant retirement outcomes
  • Acquire, clean, and process large data sets from plan sponsors, record keepers and other external or internal sources
  • Help manage, build, and enhance externally facing digital tools
  • Support management and client-facing groups in research and ad-hoc requests
  • Create supporting material for new and existing products with an emphasis on quantitative analysis
  • Collaborate with the Retirement Marketing team to help drive execution of the thought leadership agenda

You have...
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative subject area
  • CFA, FRM, CFP or MFE designation a plus
  • 1 - 4 years of proven experience in a data driven, quantitatively oriented field
  • Validated knowledge of quantitative methods, portfolio construction, and asset allocation theory is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in statistical programming; Python/Java skills are a plus
  • Experience building visualizations of quantitative results; Tableau/Angular/Python skills are a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments while producing high quality work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, partnership, and relationship-building skills
