With assets under management of over $13 billion, Nova Scotia Pension Services Corporation (NS Pension) is one of the largest pension organizations in the Atlantic provinces. NS Pension provides pension administration and investment services to two of Nova Scotia’s largest public sector plans – the Public Service Superannuation Plan and the Teachers’ Pension Plan– as well as provides services to several other smaller plans and pension arrangements. More than 74,000 members and pensioners are looked after by NS Pension. 

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Investment Officer is responsible for the stewardship of the pension funds under the management of NS Pension. The CIO provides strategic direction to the pension funds and their trustees, as well as day-to-day oversight, management and investment of the portfolios of complex assets. Leading a team, the CIO manages the Investment Division and achieves the strategic goals as approved by the trustees. The CIO serves as the in-house investment expert to the CEO and trustees, formulating investment policy solutions and strategies to maintain consistent investment performance and sound management of public and private assets that comply with regulatory and fiduciary requirements.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of experience in an investment management role, either managing a complex investment management function or as a service provider, dealing with a broad range of investment classes. Armed with superior relationship skills, the preferred candidate will have a track record of providing strategic investment advice and advancing investment operations. The ideal candidate has the ability to lead the team, inspire culture, and play a leadership role in the overall strategic management of NS Pension.
