Job Description

PURPOSE:

The Director helps to drive, develop, implement, communicate and monitor the retails business strategy in Australia and New Zealand. Acts as a key Relationship Manager for MFSIA platform clients in Australia and New Zealand. Communicates closely with Consultant Relations team to drive the research house relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plays a key role in driving the retail business strategy and implementation. Works very closely with the Associate director, Retail to ensure effective implementation of the Retail strategy. Retains and gathers new assets from existing clients. Acts as the primary contact for platform clients regarding all aspects of the relationship with MFS in Australia. Maintains, expands, and communicates knowledge of all client's needs, concerns and overall satisfaction with MFS, through frequent contact (direct, written, and oral) and portfolio review meetings. Involves other staff as needed.
  • Works with Senior Managing Director of MFSIA and with the Head of Sales to develop and implement sales strategies, which align with MFS company strategy. Monitors industry trends, advises on company product development and develops a long-term strategy alongside the marketing team for marketing MFS' investment management to client and prospect organisations to achieve sales goals.
  • Assists in the development of sales plan and marketing efforts and in prospecting and reaching out to platform investors, private banks, research houses and consultants in Australia. Gathers new clients in Australia.
  • Educates clients on multi-service capabilities of MFS; keeps clients informed of products and enhancements within MFS, relevant industry information and developments in financial markets.
  • Anticipates risks to the relationships, takes steps to protect them, and keeps manager apprised.
  • Interacts with other MFS departments (Client Service, Investment, Legal, Accounting, Compliance, Sales, Marketing, Portfolio Management, MFSI Management) to ensure that client needs are being met. Build strong links with counterparts on the global consultant relations team and participate in global consultant meetings or otherwise be the regional representative and conduit to facilitate good two way dialog related to consultant activities.
  • Works with transition team to smoothly establish new relationships.
  • Works closely with the C360 team to ensure effective management of all Australia client data feeds into the system.
  • Oversees all aspects of preparation for client reviews and prospect meetings.
  • Works with the product team on launching new capabilities for the local market.
  • Works closely with the marketing team on marketing strategies and implementation thereof for the platform market
  • Develops and understands needs of both the sub advisor and their underlying clients and deploy firm resources to meet need for product information and marketing support.
  • Prepares and conducts quarterly or semi-annual portfolio updates and reviews along with Institutional Portfolio Managers. Arranges and host consultant and client due diligence visits both on and offsite.
  • Updates CRM system as appropriate with all client details (contacts, meetings, history, client plans and key initiatives).
  • Works with Investment Team to ensure investment presentations are impactful.
  • Supports initiatives associated with client conferences and firm sponsored events.
  • Assists the Sr. Managing Director in sales efforts for the region.
  • Works with Consultant Relation Director to ensure a clear consultant/research strategy is put in place. Collaborates with the CR team to establish a strong presence for the firm in the region.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as and when requested.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree. Post-graduate education in a related area and/or CFA will be an advantage.
  • Minimum ten years' investment-related or asset management or financial experience with at least four years' experience in direct platform client relationship capacity.
  • Demonstrated passion for developing and nurturing client relationships.
  • Knowledge of domestic and foreign financial markets and products required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as presentation skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Effective supervisory and leadership skills.
