Franklin Templeton Emerging Market Equity (FT EME) is looking for an Assistant Portfolio Manager to join the team in Singapore. FT EME is a pioneer in emerging markets equities, leveraging its legacy of one culture, one philosophy, and one process for the benefit of investors since 1940. Following a "Sustainable Earnings Growth at a discount to intrinsic value" investment philosophy, our team focuses on investment opportunities in emerging and frontier markets, where we seek to capitalize on the economic growth potential of these regions of the world. This role will be focused on our Asia-Ex Japan and Global Emerging Markets Smaller Companies Equities Strategy.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position?
  • Assist with management of funds to meet or exceed investment performance standards and fund objectives, while adhering with client-specified or regulatory restrictions and constraints
  • Provides support to the Portfolio Managers on existing and potential accounts and/or fund(s)
  • Assist the Portfolio Managers in generating and evaluating new stock ideas for inclusion into the portfolios across EME including performing research responsibilities
  • Engage with clients, intermediaries, consultants, internal marketing, sales teams as part of portfolio management team
  • Adheres to established investment policy guidelines


What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree, CFA or CA preferred
  • At least 12 years of relevant experience in Equities with minimum 5 years in a buy-side
  • Experience in Small - Mid Caps is desirable
  • Research and/or investment experience across multiple sectors and multiple countries would be preferable
  • Prior experience in portfolio role and experience/involvement in other aspects of portfolio management role would be viewed favorably
  • Well-articulated, thorough, consistent, and logical investment process
  • Experience in North Asia region - China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea would be an advantage
  • Due to the region coverage, additional North Asian language like Mandarin, Korean, Cantonese will be desirable
