Description

Exciting opportunity for a EMEA FX and Rates Strategist - VP / Director with a European Corporate & Investment Bank. Strategic Research, Financial Modelling, CEE focus

Main Duties and Responsibilities of Role:

The EMEA FX and Rates strategist is responsible for the creation, direction, production and promotion of analysis and strategies covering the EMEA markets with a specific focus on the CEE region.

The position will work closely with local economists, especially in the CEE regions, and strategists across the product areas, such as FX, Debt and Interest Rates.

Pro-active support is also required for The Bank's FM trading and sales departments - particularly to those dealing with CEE exposure and the sales teams that market local currency CEE products to Financial Institutional clients. The expectation is that ideas are actionable and take into account FM's areas of expertise and appetite.

Core tasks:
  • Work closely with CEE and wider economics team to derive executable EMEA FX & Rates trade ideas to build on The Bank's strong reputation as an expert in the CEE region. The strategist will identify market opportunities, be it through shifts in macro/monetary developments or external shocks and seek to market those to internal and external customers.
  • The role requires day-to-day interaction with research team members, thus a team-spirit and adherence to The Bank's Orange code - e.g. helping others to be successful - is vital.
  • While strictly adhering to Mifid II guidelines, provide support to The Bank's internal trading desks around the globe - via intra-day chat, participation in internal briefing calls or face-to-face meetings.
  • The strategist will be expected to produce periodic and ad hoc strategy notes, consistent with Investment Research guidelines. Notes should be clear, accessible and take advantage of all appropriate distribution outlets.
  • Present EMEA FX and Rate strategy ideas to external clients, offering a high degree of personal contact.
  • A welcome additional task would be to support the G10 FX team with core activities of forecasts, models and the candidate would need to contribute to global FX reports.
  • Provide press and media coverage in line with The Bank's Research's social media strategy.
  • Maintain a network of relationships and contacts within The Bank's decentralised operations, not just in Europe, but world-wide, in order to establish a good two-way flow of information and buy-in for marketing of the research product.
  • Utilise existing and create new contacts amongst policy makers and industry sources. Use The Bank's access to a variety of data sources and models, both internal and external, to adapt and acquire new sources within reasonable cost and time parameters.
  • Upon request, provide special pieces for the Global Head of Research or other senior managers within The Bank
  • Participate in conference calls for team building purposes and participate in joint publications as organised by product coordinators.
