Position Description:

Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) seeks a Technology Analyst for its Newport Beach, CA location.

Duties: Engage in all aspects of data science and analytics project lifecycle, including data acquisition, data processing, statistical modeling, deployment, continuous monitoring and fine-tuning. Communicate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements. Extract data from Oracle relational databases and pre-process data using Python and Regular Expression. Develop predictive statistical models and anomaly detection statistical models for fund accounting and investment operation systems. Design, develop, and implement statistical models with Amazon Sagemaker, AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, and Airflow. Monitor and compute model performance statistics. Configure data pipelines in between on-premise file systems with cloud based storages with Apache Airflow. Perform data visualizations of underlying data and predictions for statistical models. Facilitate development of the firm’s data science platform by leveraging cloud tools and technologies, such as Amazon Web Services. Work with the firm's cloud technology providers, such as Amazon Web Services, on trouble-shooting technical issues and developing best practices. Advise other teams on best practices of using Amazon Sagemaker for data science projects. Develop educational materials and train other teams of the firm on adopting state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing techniques.

Position Requirements:

Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics or related field and one (1) year of experience in the position offered or related role. Required experience and/or coursework must include: Performing data acquisition, data processing, and statistical modeling on company financial metrics datasets; Conducting statistical modeling including multiple regression and step-wise regression, Multicollinearity diagnostics, regularization techniques, and tree-based models; Using Python to work with Spark, MapReduce, Hadoop, Amazon Web Services EC2, and Amazon Web Services S3; Working with databases that hold confidential financial information and translating business processes into technical requirements, demonstrating an understanding of Business Analysis; Writing efficient, optimized SQL queries to extract data from Oracle 11g relational databases, demonstrating an understanding of Entity-Relationship Model and query execution; Understanding of how PL/SQL database triggers, stored procedures, and Regular Expressions are used in data pipelines and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes; Understanding of cash and accrual based accounting and amortization of bonds and mortgages; Understanding of fixed income products, financial markets, and investment management including fixed income securities pricing, portfolio construction and mathematics, mean-variance analysis, asset allocation, multifactor model investing, and arbitrage pricing theory; Using Python to mine data streams; Understanding of CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Development) using Git in technical projects; and Performing business process modeling using Microsoft Visio.
