Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the CBA Group's relationships with major corporate, institutional and government clients, and provides a full range of capital raising, transaction banking and markets risk management products and services. The IB&M Strategy team works on a diverse range of topics for the IB&M Leadership Team to shape and deliver strategic initiatives across the business, including business unit strategy, alliances / partnerships and business model innovation.

Do work that matters
You will work alongside your fellow strategy colleagues as well as stakeholders across IB&M and the CBA Group to play an active role in strategy development for the bank. This includes gathering and analysing complex information, formulating and testing hypotheses, developing and communicating recommendations and supporting the business to mobilise your proposed solutions. Specifically, you will be:
- Framing business issues / problems and applying structured problem solving to facilitate the development of solutions.
- Completing quantitative / qualitative analysis to develop and test hypotheses and recommendations, including internal / external market research, data analysis, financial modelling and business case preparation.
- Synthesising findings and developing compelling C-suite level presentations that clearly articulate analyses / recommendations and act as a solid foundation for decision making
- Applying robust project management practices for strategic engagements by structuring work in an efficient manner to manage scope, timelines, accountabilities and outcomes.
- 2-3 years of experience in strategy consulting (in-house or at a professional services firm) and/or financial services.
- Excellent strategic thinking skills, including a hypothesis-based and structured approach to problem solving
- Demonstrated aptitude in quantitative analysis and ability to apply those skills to financial model development and formation of business case recommendations
- Strong oral and written communication skills to logically and concisely express insights to stakeholders of all levels of experience and backgrounds
- Previous experience engaging and developing relationships with senior stakeholders
- Strong business / commercial acumen and knowledge of current market / industry issues
- An outcomes-based approach to engagement management - able to set the agenda, scope tasks, manage timelines, hold stakeholders to account, anticipate issues and identify solutions
- A positive attitude coupled with a strong work ethic, adaptability to change, curiosity to learn and eagerness to pursue personal development
- Bachelor's degree, ideally in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications such as an MBA or CFA are desirable, but not essential.
