The Private Investment Valuation Analyst candidate will play a lead role in analyzing complex private and illiquid securities to determine the securities fair value. The determination of the fair value will require the gathering and disseminating of company financial information, ensuring integrity of research, presenting recommendations to the Pricing Committee and communicating recommendations to internal and external clients.

The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable of the securities industry, has a strong understanding of financial statement analysis, is detail oriented, has a strong sense of responsibility, is a self-starter, and works well independently as well as part of a team. The candidate should have either a CFA or MBA designation or should be working toward it
  • Perform company research and valuation involving:
    • Analysis of company financials, presentations and business plan milestones
    • Reviewing various legal documents and company filings
    • Conducting due diligence and trend analysis to ensure reliability of data
    • Attendance at company meetings
    • Gathering news stories and pricing information from market data vendors
  • Develop relationships with top Management at Companies under Fair Value coverage
  • Formulate new as well as update existing fair value recommendations, which may require both creative and in depth analysis and valuation methodologies
  • Primary coverage of 20-30 investments across various sectors, such as: software, media, fintech, e-commerce/retail, healthcare, and biotech
  • Prepare, review, and present fair value recommendations, fair value policies and company updates for members of the Pricing Committee
  • Collaborate with various groups throughout the firm including: internal counsel, corporate actions team, global relationship management, securities valuation team, the hedge fund administration group, industry analysts, fixed income trading and portfolio managers
  • Research and resolve client inquiries timely, thoroughly, and accurately
  • Stay abreast of SEC and regulatory fair value requirements
  • Monitor trading activity and news related to halted securities on global exchanges
Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of applicable industry experience including fair value analysis and/or company and security analysis
  • Clear understanding of financial statement analysis
  • Knowledgeable of fixed income and equity instruments
  • Familiarity with sustainability themes such as ESG and/or climate impact
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Exhibits a proactive approach to problem identification and resolution
  • Thoroughness, attention to detail and the ability to think and work independently and within a team environment are a must
  • Strong analytical, organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, self-directed, and think outside the box
  • Excellent verbal and written communications including presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong desire to improve and enhance processes
  • Designation of or demonstrated progress towards CFA or MBA strongly preferred
