Roles and Responsibilities
Credit Research sits within Global Treasury and advises the Bank's clients, helping them to stay one step ahead of the fixed income investment market. Their impartial intelligence and independent research are key to shaping sales and trading strategies for clients and for our business. Joining the Credit Research team, your role will include effective creation, communication and distribution of credit research content. The successful candidate will gain exposure to technical (Credit Research/Investment), inter-personal (team and individual work situations) and presentation (client and media engagements) skills through:
  • Analyzing market and economic data to produce analysis
  • Collecting and compiling data on both industries and companies
  • Maintaining financial models and spreadsheets
  • Contributing to, authoring and publishing internal and external research publications
  • Contacting companies' management & operations team to assess their fundamental outlook
  • Identifying new investment ideas and creating new strategies
  • Making investment recommendations to both internal & external clients
  • Presenting research and investment/trade ideas to colleagues and external clients
  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies (in particular trading and conflict of interest) and MAS regulations as relevant to research analysts

Qualifications
Requirements
  • At least 3 years' working experience preferred in related field;
  • A solid accounting background with strong MS Excel financial modeling and analytical skills and familiarity with financial statements;
  • A natural orientation to the credit markets will be highly preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills as incumbent is expected to articulate his/her sound judgment and formulate convincing investment theses. In particular, solid writing skills and experience in writing for a wide audience is important to content distribution;
  • English fluency for writing and presentations;
  • Be a self-starter and able to work independently on assigned tasks. However equally important is to collaborate effectively with colleagues in a team environment as needed to pro-actively contribute to team activities;
  • A CFA charterholder or currently undertaking the CFA programme is a plus but not a requirement;
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and programming skills also a plus.
