Job purpose

The Edinburgh Credit Platform Services department and its Collateral Monitoring Team are part of Private Banking Operations. The team works closely with the Lending Solutions Team, Underwriting Team, Security Based Lending Team, Client Service Specialists and Credit Executives. The main focuses of the Collateral Team is to monitor daily client credit exposure, review and facilitate the approval of credit transactions in line with the internal credit procedures and policies, keeping first class client service in mind.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Shape the vision of the team in terms of change mobility, project agenda and day to day business
  • Assist in audit requests
  • Approval of loan drawdown, payments in adherence to credit policies
  • Consult with the key business partners on credit structure, collateral and other credit consideration issues
  • Maintain and monitor collateral values based on Credit Approval Memorandum (CAM) requests, annual reviews and special approvals
  • Identifying, investigating and reporting collateral shortfall situations to ensure prompt resolution working with the Lending Solutions and other front office teams
  • Issuance, setup and on-going monitoring of Standby Letter of Credits (SBLCs) and Guarantees
  • Monitoring and charging of various fees related to credit activity
  • Setup of Life Insurance collateral and approval of Life Insurance transactions in adherence to credit policies
  • Control reports generation, analysis and follow-up
  • Help drive of our change mobilization agenda from a team's and department's perspective
  1. Ancillary activities
  • Check the team mailbox for the allocated tasks and respond to queries promptly ensuring no items are over 24 hours
  • Update capacity metrics timely and assist team leader with metrics review and reporting.
  • Participate and support team leader with key projects, often within tight deadlines, taking ownership and leading as agreed with team leader. Provide support from inception through to completion.
  • Manage and prioritize the workflow of the team for the day to day activities to ensure SLAs are met.
  • Deputise for team leader as appropriate, including day-to-day management and participation in meetings
  1. Collaboration
  • Participate in team meetings and make valuable contributions. Lead or take notes if designated chairperson/secretary and update the minutes in the shared drive. Follow up on actions allocated to you.
  • Share information, best practice and ideas with the team
  • Regularly partner with and provide support to colleagues in other locations. This includes Legal partners, Client Service Specialists, Onboarding, Business Management and Projects teams
  • Liaise with Lending Solutions, Securities Based Lending Team, Credit Executives, and internal legal teams on documentation requirements and validation
  • Act as main point of contact for key stakeholders
  • Deepen relationships with other Credit Platform Services teams and promote synergies
  • Provide support to and coach analysts/junior associates while fostering collaboration and team spirit.
  1. Controls
  • Ensure daily control sheet is populated by self and the team.
  • Ensure quality control is maintained within all functions.
  • Appropriate Mailbox management
  • Lead set up and maintain robust procedures and processes; identify inefficiencies and propose solutions.
  • Understand, ensure adherence to and compliance with, JPMorgan policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand credit control requirements to ensure that any control requirement is addressed and controls effected
  • Maintain a strong controls mind-set, able to challenge the status quo and identify process efficiencies
  • Complete all mandatory training timely.
  • Ensure timely escalation of issues to team leader/senior management following the applicable escalation procedures
  • Adhere with Records retention policy
  1. Knowledge/skills
  • Maintain in-depth understanding of relevant field and end-to-end process.
  • Maintain very good knowledge of credit products.
  • Participate in credit and other forums to stay abreast of new initiatives
  • Keep informed on new policies/regulations impacting credit and the team
  • Commit to own learning and attend training sessions organized by the wider team
  • Understand and comply with all company rules and regulations
  • Serve as project support and project lead on various strategic, operational, and/or credit related initiatives
  • Become knowledgeable in key concepts including banking, regulatory requirements, lending products, credit, and bank tools
Essential qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 and up to 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's Degree and/or CFA a plus
  • Good understanding of the private banking business and especially credit products
  • In depth understanding of collateral monitoring and previous experience in credit origination a plus
  • Aptitude to digest large amounts of information and use it to develop innovative solutions
  • Able to assist credit deals with and end to end focus while making independent decisions
  • Experience in process change and execution with tools such as Python, Signavio, Alteryx, Xceptor and/or VBA is a plus
  • Proactive, responsive team player who can thrive in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Strong commitment, sense of integrity and exceptional drive
  • Ability to prioritize, take initiative and meet tight deadlines
  • Possess strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
