Controllers Valuation Group Associate 3-4 yrs of work experience

Summary: The successful candidate will be part of the Controllers Valuation Group supporting both the Global Markets and Asset Management Divisions of Goldman Sachs. The function involves performing valuation oversight for both securities and derivatives, maintaining relationships and oversight of our independent third party fund administrators, reviewing derivative inputs and fair value disclosures, and assisting with management and fund board reporting. The candidate will interact with various groups within the firm including Controllers Management, Portfolio Management and Trading, Risk, Operations, Legal and Compliance

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Principal Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting in the price verification of positions held in the portfolios - including, but not limited to interest rate swaps, inflation linked interest rate products, credit default swaps, total return swaps on emerging market debt, securities (equities, MBS, ABS, emerging market debt, corporate bonds, investment grade bonds, high yield bonds, government bonds, etc.)
  • Regular interaction with independent fund administrators to resolve daily valuation questions
  • Preparation of management reporting and analysis to provide key valuation metrics to senior Business and Controllers Management as well as fund Boards
  • Compile and review of derivative inputs with particular focus on level 3 assets
  • Oversee Global ASC 820 stamping workflow
  • Review Global Valuation Adjustments to ensure complete and accurate reporting to management and regulators
  • Assist in the development of a valuation and price verification framework for newly traded securities and securities; in conjunction with key federation stakeholders (IT, Operations, Legal, Compliance, etc.) and the Portfolio Management/Trading teams

Basic Qualifications

  • Accounting, Economics or Finance degree preferred, but not required
  • CPA, or CFA preferred, but not required
  • Experience in the financial markets and the investment management industry is preferred
  • Requires a willingness and drive to understand valuation methods for the types of securities and derivatives mentioned above
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written communication) skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work efficiently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Desktop Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Knowledge of analytical tools such as Tableau and QlikView a plus
