BlackRock's Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions team is seeking to expand its Client CIO team by hiring an Associate to focus on delivering multi-asset and OCIO investment solutions primarily for our US and APAC institutional clients.

In this role, you will be responsible for working with both existing and prospective clients in the design and implementation of their investment strategies, including total return oriented and liability driven objectives.

Key elements of the role include:
  • Exploring and understanding the client's investment goals and aspirations;
  • Designing potential solutions using BlackRock's analytical toolset and market views; and
  • Reporting and communicating the results back to clients

During all parts of the process the new member of the team will work closely with internal stakeholders. Beyond the investment aspects of the role, you will play an active role in our new business solicitations, including responsibility for written RFP responses and commercial proposals. You will also own and develop internal processes critical to making the business a success while consistently helping us find new ways to improve efficiency and timeliness of output through technology.

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent understanding of multi-asset investing, portfolio optimization, risk management concepts, and have strong communication skills in person and in writing. They will also have a good knowledge of the US institutional market and extensive experience of explaining complex concepts to third parties, including clients that may not have deep financial experience or familiarity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engaging with the investment offices of existing and prospective clients to understand the nature of the client's investment problem and their outcome objectives;
  • Presenting credible, innovative, investment and risk management solutions that meet current and prospective client requirements;
  • Advising on topics including risk management, risk budgeting, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and liability-driven investing;
  • Day-to-day client engagement (i.e. training and educating, delivering mandate and market updates, resolving client requests);
  • Deliver client presentations based on new ideas in portfolio construction and risk management;
  • Compose articles and white papers on relevant topics of interest
  • Maintaining an in-depth knowledge of the full suite of solutions offered by Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions, and the products managed by other investment areas within BlackRock;
  • Maintaining and developing knowledge of the broader themes, trends, and competitive landscape within the US institutional client universe
  • Developing and maintaining strong partnership with the Institutional Client Business and the Global Consultant Relations teams who are primarily responsible for managing and developing BlackRock's client and consulting relationships.

Professional Requirements:
  • Degree or higher level qualification and demonstrated record of academic achievement;
  • 3+ years of asset management experience, preferably across multiple asset classes and investment disciplines
  • Relevant experience in an asset management, investment banking or investment consulting environment;
  • Familiarity with a wide array of institutional investment strategies and fund structures
  • Excellent communication skills in writing and speech; capable of connecting with multiple audiences and adapting style of communication in real time;
  • Ability to present and articulate complex concepts simply;
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • High level of self-motivation, ownership and initiative;
  • Strong organizational and project management skills;
  • Excellent team player;
  • Not afraid to immerse oneself deeply into a financial model or analysis;
  • Achievement of CFA, FRM, CAIA or equivalent qualifications;
  • Proficiency in Excel and coding languages such as python
