The Role: Rating Analyst , Corporate Ratings (Manufacturing Sector)

You will be a critical member to the Great China Manufacturing pod (Auto, Capital Goods, E&C etc.). Working closely with the lead analyst and other primary analysts of the team, you are responsible for the collection, collation, interpretation and maintenance of data for analytical purposes. You will support analysts with report writing for publication.

The Location: Hong Kong

The Grade Level: G9 (For Internal Reference Only)

The Team / The Business: You will be part of a global and multicultural team.

The Impact: You will be responsible for the development of spreadsheet statistics and databases and will be actively involved in developing rating committee presentations, portfolio reviews and commentaries. You will also act as backup analysts for a portfolio of credits to analyze original, non-routine and complex situations in a timely, orderly and insightful manner. Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of industry trends and issues.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a centralized database and spreadsheets ensuring all necessary data is processed in a timely fashion
  • Develop spreadsheet statistics, including peer group analysis.
  • Assist analysts in financial modelling and forecasting
  • Collate material for management meetings
  • Source news information using Bloomberg, WIND and others, providing analysts with updated information on stories and breaking news.
  • Attend and participate in committees and management meetings
  • Acting as backup analysts for a portfolio of credits
  • Attend meetings and interact with senior management of corporations to obtain information upon which to base credit rating decisions
  • Actively participate and be engaged in rating committees. Present recommendations and your rationale to the rating committee
  • Prepare a variety of materials suitable for publication (rating reports, press releases) to disseminate and explain our ratings on a timely basis
  • Prepare commentaries/ papers on areas of expertise for publication
  • Share knowledge/ participate in initiatives to improve group operations (through sharing analytical expertise, coaching to more junior staff, project work)
  • Demonstrate service excellence and professionalism towards external and internal clients
What we're looking for:
  • Bachelor degree holder of Finance, Business Administration, accounting or a related subject
  • Pursuing CFA or CPA is ideal
  • Relevant research or analytical experience with other financial institutions
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to collate and analyze information
  • Good organization skill and very high attention to detail
  • Be able to effectively communicate (oral, written, presentation)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Mandarin
  • Solid analytical capability, team player and has good time management skills
  • Good time management and prioritization. Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-changing, global and regulated environment
  • Willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice
