This position sits within Wells Fargo Asset Management’s International Client Group.

The International Client Group has a significant presence in international markets, over 100 professionals. International team members are located in:

Our distribution team is purpose built to understand client needs and address a subset of investment opportunities that reflect the intersection our firm capabilities and client demand. We execute on this objective primarily via a regional coverage model whereby our teams: remain close to the end client, leverage local language advantages, and utilize local market knowledge. The team will also selectively adopt channel specialization thereby allowing for: client need expertise, client advocacy, and focus. The International Client Group’s core channels include:

  • Financial Institutions
  • Retirement 
  • Official Institutions
  • Insurance 
  • Balance Sheet

Ultimately, this individual will have two parallel areas of responsibility within the group. He or she will work closely and support/collaborate with the Head of Business Development (based in San Francisco). This leadership position oversees all business development directors within the group. He is also charged with setting strategy for our Official Institutions channel and select regional teams. Concurrently this role will have traditional client facing responsibilities within two APAC regional teams (Japan & Australia/New Zealand).

Responsibilities - Supervisory Support

  • Maintain, improve, and facilitate transparency via a data driven approach to business dynamics. This entails but is not limited to: 
    • Pipeline data management and revenue forecasting procedures
    • At risk client analysis via region, country, channel, or product
    • Aggregate activity analysis combined with selective campaign work
  • Lead, organize and execute multi-faceted late stage due diligence events in San Francisco. 
  • Act as a connectivity point and partner for International Client Group distribution enablement projects. Distribution enablement meaning marketing, product, strategy, and technology partners. 
  • Become proficient in jurisdictional marketing procedures. Partner with legal and compliance on a case-by-case basis to support complex opportunities. 
  • Adopt and execute business controls associated with international efforts in partnership with the Head of Business Development. Bring a forward-looking perspective to the current supervisory framework and drive improvements.
  • Coach, cross-train and/or lead other support team members

Responsibilities - Institutional Business Development

  • Prepare competitive analysis, interpret data and make recommendations to Institutional Client Group Directors regarding investment teams, products, and/or market segments to target
  • Partners with sales, portfolio managers, product specialists and/or client relations staff for support activities for relationships
  • Lead projects, including identifying resources, establishing timeframes, and managing to milestones and communicating and coordinating across various internal parties
  • Prepare marketing and develop presentations while assessing compliance implications
  • Prepare service materials, managing client questionnaire requests and regular reporting deliverables
  • Analyze and resolve complex operational, systems-related and/or issues
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and procedures to gain efficiencies

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of institutional quality sales support, equivalent relationship management support, or a combination of both


Desired Qualifications

  • A Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or demonstrated progress toward the designation
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products (Power Point, Word, Access)
  • Knowledge and understanding of capital markets or trading
  • Reporting experience, analytics experience or a combination of both
  • Ability to produce high level summary analysis reports in a meaningful and understandable format

Other Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Asset Management experience highly preferred
  • Understanding of global institutional asset owner types. Particularly relevant regions are Asia Pacific and, to a lesser extent, Latin America
