Controllers - Firmwide Management Reporting & Analysis

The successful applicant will have a broad ranging role within the firmwide management reporting & analysis team, which is responsible for reporting the firm's performance to senior management. Excellent analytical skills, writing skills, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are a must given the department's audience, which includes the firm's CEO, CFO, and Management Committee. Requirements include a strong inquisitive focus, the ability to work well with a broad range of Product Controllers, divisional contacts, and other teams within Controllers, an ability to multi-task and meet tight reporting deadlines, and a very strong team focus. Public Accounting experience, as well as financial services industry experience or financial product knowledge, is desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Reporting of daily P&L, weekly P&L and associated metrics to senior management
  • Prepare various supporting documents for the external Non-Compensation Expense disclosures, such as Earnings Release, 10Q/K filings and Fed Reporting.
  • Coordinate with Product Finance and divisional CFOs to ensure accurate data is submitted in a timely fashion for month end & quarter end projections
  • Maintain control of the firm's general ledger during the closing process to ensure the integrity of cut-off deadlines
  • Reconcile Non-Compensation expense month-end estimates vs. general ledger with accompanying variance analysis
  • Be the point person to report estimates and actuals for investment entities across the firm
  • Contribute to the production, review and analysis of the monthly reporting package for the firm's Management Committee
  • Report and analyze unallocated expenses
  • Work closely with engineering to maintain the organizational tree and chart of accounts
  • Perform varied ad hoc analyses

Experience/Skills:
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (preferred), Finance or other business discipline
  • CPA or CFA preferred, but not required
  • Strong GPA (3.5+)
  • Large public accounting firm / Financial Services industry experience is preferable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced knowledge of Excel and Word is required. Powerpoint, Oracle SmartView and Peoplesoft skills are a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills (e.g., being able to manage several successive drafts of documents, time management and efficiency)
  • Strong analytical skills (i.e., being able to identify and research issues)
  • Excellent writing skills, particularly with spelling, grammar, structure and vocabulary, are a must. An understanding of financial product terminology is preferable
  • Self-motivated and results driven
