The Role: Associate - Sustainable Finance

We are currently recruiting an Associate to join our Sustainable Finance team, based in Hong Kong. He or she would specifically be working as part of a growing team of dedicated sustainable finance analysts on ESG research and contribute to the development, application and roll out of new products in the ESG and green finance space. He or she would be reporting to Bertrand Jabouley (Singapore), Analytical Coordinator and Lead Sustainable Finance APAC.

Grade Level: G11 (For Internal Reference Only)

What's in it for you: You will specifically be working as part of a growing team of dedicated sustainable finance analysts on ESG research and contribute to the development, application and roll out of new products in the ESG and green finance space.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Leading interactions with external clients, including meeting with management teams in support of our credit ratings and the development and deployment of new sustainable finance products.
  • Conducting research and analysis of ESG, environmental and climate-related risks, and how these could impact organisations over the short, medium and long term. This work should result in the publication of research commentaries that are widely read by the investment community.
  • Supporting the Head of Sustainable Finance and his team in product development and market outreach activities such as industry conferences, which may involve occasional travel.
  • Interacting with credit rating analytical teams to facilitate the inclusion of appropriate environmental, social, and governance factors in credit risk analysis and industry-based publications.
  • Leading training of analytical teams to improve knowledge of ESG throughout the organisation.
What we're looking for:

Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree with some courses in sustainability, finance, and environmental management. Individuals with an academic background towards social science subject will also be considered
  • Either relevant Master's degree or CFA Charterholder.
  • 5-7 years of work experience within the finance sector with a strong exposure towards sustainable finance/ ESG
  • Knowledge of (and interest in) ESG, sustainability, responsible investing, environmental and climate finance.
Skills and abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin. Knowledge of Japanese will be a plus
  • Ability to manipulate data from databases: charting, using pivot tables and some basic Excel manipulation, such as lookup functions and logical tests.
  • Ability to work on Powerpoint presentations
  • Ability to work independently and be resourceful, gathering information from various internal and external sources to summarise trends and themes.
  • High level of adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to multitask and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
  • Proactive and self-motivated attitude
