The Fiduciary Officer is responsible for administering all aspects of an assigned book of trust accounts in the Wealth & Investment Management Business Unit of Boston Trust Walden. The Fiduciary Officer will address client inquiries in a timely and effective manner while coordinating and overseeing all trust administration activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with relationship and portfolio managers to provide trust administration services to an assigned book of accounts.
  • Coordinate and monitor all facets of fiduciary account administration from opening to distribution, including the review and interpretation of governing documents and applicable state laws to ensure accurate and complete account setup.
  • Collaborate with external fiduciary tax vendor support team to ensure account and transaction coding are accurate.
  • Review and interpret estate planning documents including wills and trust agreements.
  • Analyze and anticipate issues and planning opportunities for prospective and current clients.
  • Participate in internal and external trainings to enhance knowledge of trust administration, estate planning, tax laws and regulations applicable to the Boston Trust Walden’s high net worth trust business.
  • Support and mentor junior staff members by sharing knowledge of applicable trust administration and estate planning concepts.
  • Membership and key role on our Trust Administration Committee
  • Assist Director of Client Administration in the development, improvement and implementation of processes and procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or another related field required.
  • Law Degree or master’s in taxation a plus.
  • 5+ years of relevant fiduciary administration and estate tax planning experience.
  • Ability to research, learn and analyze applicable fiduciary tax law rules and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of IRS Subchapter J laws and related regulations, and the ability to apply these concepts to all aspects of trust administration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office resources (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Working knowledge of Advent, SEI and Thomson Reuters OneSource Trust Tax platform helpful
