Desjardins Capital Markets is currently seeking an experienced Associate to join their Corporate Banking group located in Calgary.

General Information on the Position

The successful candidate will quickly become a senior member of our team and assume responsibility for completing and overseeing:

  • Credit analysis, documentation, company specific and industry-oriented research, database maintenance and internal reporting in support of new and existing client business
  • Preparation of annual reviews and amendments to credit facilities
  • Loan and related documentation review
  • Pitch-books to support new client business and for internal presentation purposes
  • Establishment and maintenance of various databases designed to assist with both credit analysis/approval and new client/business development activities
  • Assorted internal management reports
  • Liaising with other members of Desjardins Capital Markets and Desjardins Group, at all levels; including Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, Sales & Trading, and Transaction Banking
  • Ad hoc responsibilities to be determined on an ongoing basis

Key Attributes:

  • An in-depth understanding of credit risk/analysis and at least 5 years of relevant work experience, including in a credit/banking environment;
  • Undergraduate/Graduate University degree in business, commerce or finance with a strong record of academic achievement;
  • Well developed analytical, financial analysis and accounting skills;
  • Strong financial modeling skills;
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint and Word;
  • Strong work ethic and a high level of attention to detail;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Self-starter with an ability to work and learn independently;
  • Efficient organizational skills with ability to manage projects with overlapping timelines;
  • Ability to work within a small team and liaise remotely with other colleagues;
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Thomson One, Reuters and FactSet considered a plus;
  • Knowledge and understanding of French is desirable, although not mandatory.
