We are now inviting qualified candidates to apply for the role of Associate - Structured Banking.
Based in Sydney, and reporting to the Country Head of Structured Banking, you will be responsible for assisting in the origination, structuring, execution and ongoing monitoring of corporate event and mid-market financial sponsor transactions for the Commercial Banking client base. The job holder will support the broader Structured Banking team, as well as working closely with Relationship Managers across 5 states, a range of capital financing specialists and local and regional risk colleagues.
Your main responsibilities will include
  • Acting as a complex debt specialist for the CMB team to assist Relationship Managers in the origination and execution of corporate event transactions, including acquisition and cross-border funding structures
  • Providing support to deliver HSBC's Australian mid-market financial sponsor proposition - including coverage of existing inbound global and regional priority sponsors, plus a select group of domestic private equity houses
  • Working with CMB and Risk colleagues in constructing appropriate responses to stressed credits and sectors, including alternate funding approaches
  • Positioning as the CMB conduit to Capital Financing specialists, particularly in relation to Leverage & Acquisition Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Loan Syndications, Sustainable Finance and M&A Advisory teams
  • Serving as a centre of excellence to assist with technical skill development across the broader CMB business


Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need
  • A degree in Finance, Business or Accountancy-related disciplines - related post graduate qualifications such as CFA or Masters of Applied Finance will be highly regarded
  • Relevant experience with demonstrable track record in writing comprehensive yet concise financial analysis, as well as the construction of content-focused pitch books (recent Graduates will be considered)
  • Proficiency in building and adapting financial models for corporate and event scenarios
  • An understanding of company valuation, capital structuring and external ratings methodologies
  • Exposure to structuring and negotiating legal documentation
  • An ability to manage to tight timelines
  • Superior attention to detail and a desire to deliver consistent high-quality output to achieve a market-leading reputation
  • To consistently meet and exceed customer expectations through superior customer service.
