This individual will form a core part of the Finance team, and be responsible for the smooth running of the day-to-day finance processes and transactions in Lisbon and Porto. This position will report directly to the Global Head of Finance and also work very closely with the Country Manager of Portugal. This role would be a great opportunity for a dynamic individual who wants hands-on experience within a finance function at an early stage of their career!

Finance Manager Job Duties

  • Responsible for the execution of the day-to-day finance processes for Portugal, working closely with the operations and account management teams to ensure finance support
  • Manage a small team of 2-3 junior staff in Lisbon and Porto
  • Full ownership of the finance function in Portugal
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and execute monthly close process
  • Run payroll for Portugal
  • Responsible for VAT submissions and all other local tax/compliance requirements
  • Perform analyses and reports as requested by the Country Manager
  • Fully in-house accounting finance function for Portugal
  • Responsible for implementation of internal controls in alignment with group policies and comply with legislation (for SEF communication, Tourist Tax, VAT, invoices)
  • Suggest changes or improvements to increase accuracy, efficiency, and cost reductions
     

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or similar subject
  • Qualified accountant OCC or ACCA equivalent would be an advantage
  • At least 3-5 years of previous experience in a finance-related role
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English (must have professional working proficiency, level C1 or above)
  • Excellent proficiency in Excel and comfortable navigating G Suite apps
  • Previous people management experience
  • Previous experience in a fast paced startup environment
  • Detail oriented, with a strong focus on quality
  • A proactive hands-on attitude with a willingness to learn and continue personal development
  • Able to multitask, prioritise and problem solve in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work with the highest ethical and professional quality standards.
  • Previous experience with Magnifinance would be a bonus
