We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Alternative Investment Oversight Head, HSBC Life.

Principal Responsibilities​
  • Oversee the development of L3 investment policies and strategies, including the return targets, fund selection criteria, diversification parameters, risk appetite and limits, etc.
  • Responsible for oversight on L3 assets' capital deployment relative to plan and ensure all investment guidelines and risk limits have been followed.
  • Responsible for overseeing L3 assets' investment valuations and performance relative to target return, with an objective to identify and escalate underperforming or mispriced assets for attention and actions.
  • Contribute to effective functioning of investment and valuation oversight governance bodies on L3 assets, including the
  • Portfolio Review Meeting (PRM), various Valuation Committees, LIC and INHK-HAIL Governance Meetings.
  • Coordinate with other business areas, including Risk, Finance, Actuarial, Product, ISOT, RC and Legal on matters related to L3 assets.
  • Coordinate with Group Investment and Group Investment COO on matters related to L3 assets.
  • Coordinate with AMG and HAIL on L3 investment mandate implementation and oversight.
  • Contribute to the SAA review exercise in matters related to L3 assets.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of appropriate fund structures or investment vehicles to maximize investment efficiency of L3 assets;
  • Keep abreast of relevant global developments in the capital and insurance market and changes in regulatory, actuarial and accounting regime, particularly in relation to insurance investment management and financial reporting that have impacts on L3 assets.

  • University graduate with solid industry experience
  • Additional professional qualifications in Finance, Actuary, or Investment such as CFA is a plus
  • Extensive experience in private equity, real estate, alternative credits such as loans and direct lending
  • Solid experience of valuation and other financial models, such as DCF, comparable company, and other asset models
  • Familiar with IFRS or US GAAP requirements for asset accounting and valuation
  • Up to date knowledge of current accounting practices and standards for illiquid alternative assets
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, technical skills and a proven team player
  • Strong business acumen and can demonstrate sound, broad commercial intuitive judgment
  • Strategic awareness, strong leadership, high resilience, humility, and demonstrated agility to manage cross territorial teams
  • Organisation and planning skills, highly detail-oriented
  • Drive and commitment, action and deadline-oriented
