Within MASS, the Americas Client CIO team is seeking to hire an Associate or Vice President to focus on delivering multi-asset and OCIO investment solutions primarily for US pension plans.

In this role, you will be responsible for working with both existing and prospective clients in the design and implementation of their investment strategies, including total return oriented and liability driven objectives. Key elements of the role include:
  • exploring and understanding the client's investment goals and aspirations;
  • designing potential solutions using BlackRock's analytical toolset, market views, and range of internally managed and 3rd party products; and
  • reporting and communicating the results back to clients.

During all parts of the process the new member of the team will work closely with internal partners.

Beyond the investment aspects of the role, you will play an active role in our new business solicitations, including responsibility for written RFP responses and commercial proposals. This includes close collaboration with our legal team on client contracting. You will also own internal processes critical to making the business a success (e.g. performance track records, market commentary) while consistently helping us find new ways to improve efficiency and timeliness of output.

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent understanding of multi-asset investing, risk management concepts, and have strong communication skills in person and in writing. They will also have a good knowledge of the US institutional market and extensive experience of explaining complex concepts to third parties, including clients that may not have deep financial experience or familiarity.

Professional requirements
  • Bachelors Degree or higher level qualification and proven record of academic achievement;
  • 3+ years of asset management experience, preferably across multiple asset classes and investment subject areas
  • Familiarity with an array of institutional investment strategies (e.g., liability driven investing, Alternatives)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in writing and speech; ability to connect with multiple audiences and adapt style of communication in real time;
  • Ability to present and articulate complex concepts simply;
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
  • Strong organizational and project management skills;
  • High level of self-motivation, ownership, initiative, and the ability to have fun!;
  • Achievement of CFA, FRM, CAIA or equivalent qualifications preferred;
  • Some technology / coding proficiency a plus.
