Spira is seeking an Associate / Senior Associate to join the acquisitions team with high potential for long term growth, ideally working his or her way to leading acquisitions for the firm and building his or her own deal team.  The successful candidate will be passionate, curious and highly-adaptable to a dynamic environment where high organization and prioritization skills are paramount.  We will be investing resources and mentorship to helping the candidate grow into an acquisitions specialist in the private equity space.

ROLE AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting acquisitions through diligence, financing and closing activities. Secondary responsibilities may include activities relating to asset management, fund reporting and portfolio management.

Responsibilities:

  • Build financial and valuation models to support potential investment opportunities
  • Perform legal and financial due diligence
  • Provide initial investment review, conduct market research and screen prospective investment opportunities as well as tracking the investment pipeline
  • Assist in the preparation of the internal investment memorandum and present to the firm’s investment committee
  • Assist in transaction execution
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of assets within the firm’s portfolio including review of monthly operating results and maintaining project performance
  • Working with and monitoring third-party property management to ensure the acquisition pro forma is achieved
  • Assist other strategic initiatives

Experience and Qualifications

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, investing, or other relevant areas preferred
  • A CFA Charterholder and/or a Candidate attaining a CPA designation is preferred.  A post-graduate university degree in Finance or Accounting is also desirable
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint programs is a prerequisite
  • Comfort in building, manipulating and comprehending financial models
  • Ability to keep organized and field competing demands and priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Strong interest in developing career as a financier
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
