Become a Corporate Finance Advisor at Edison International (EIX) and build a better tomorrow. As part of your work within EIX’s Corporate Finance team, you will collaborate closely with senior management and members of the finance and strategy teams not only at EIX, but at each of EIX’s major subsidiaries Southern California Edison (SCE) and Edison Energy. 

Your responsibilities will largely consist of forecasting and analyzing the financial performance of a company with consolidated revenues of over $13 billion in 2020. Specific core monthly assignments may include forecasting current year consolidated earnings, evaluating year-to-date consolidated earnings, and projecting EIX cash flows and financing requirements among other activities. Additionally, you will be involved in the long-term planning and annual budgeting processes, including evaluation of EIX’s capital structure, dividend policies, credit profile, in support of decision making by senior leaders and ultimately the EIX Board of Directors.

There will be opportunities to collaborate with senior managers and executives of the Strategic Planning, Corporate Development, and Corporate Finance groups to evaluate and potentially execute a range of M&A transactions, early stage minority investments, and financing activities. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Consolidate financial results of the corporate entity and its subsidiaries, including the coordination of deliverables and timelines across multiple departments, execution of periodic updates to supporting financial models, and preparation of presentation materials for senior management and the EIX Board of Directors.
  • Lead and assist in the coordination, planning, and development of the annual budget and long-term planning process for the consolidated business group.
  • Lead various budget-to-actual and forecast-to-forecast variance analyses for the corporate entity and its subsidiaries, understanding and monitoring key earnings drivers and pressure points, and working with subsidiary counterparts to identify root causation of variances.
  • Develop, analyze, and prepare ad-hoc financial information such as models, charts, tables, and other exhibits supporting management and/or Board requests.
  • Develop, support, and assist with presentations to department, senior management, and other key stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop operational improvements and improve data integration to ensure efficient workflow and execution.
  • Conduct financial research and/or economic analysis, competitive landscape assessments, and benchmarking of companies.
  • Support ongoing business activities and potential strategic transactions applying critical thinking, problem solving skills, and data analysis.

The essentials

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field. 
  • Seven or more years of experience in financial, quantitative, or operational analysis including analyzing complex business and/or regulatory problems.  
  • Experience with financial modeling and valuation, including creation and analysis of the three financial statements. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

The preferred

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
  • Completion and/or in pursuit of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program exam I, II or III, AFP FP&A Certification, or Certified Public Accountant designation.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg Terminal, Capital IQ, and/or other valuation tools.
  • Professional experience utilizing financial analysis techniques, tools, and concepts to craft, analyze, and draw conclusions from business data.
  • Desire to learn how to use new tools, techniques, and skills.
  • Proven time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous projects and adapt to high paced working environment.
  • Experience performing ad-hoc analysis, including identifying client needs, gather relevant information from appropriate stakeholders, and presenting information.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive Company, department, and individual performance information.
  • Ability to work independently to collect, analyze, prioritize, design and present.
