Global Asset Management, the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC's worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. Global Asset Management fulfills its purpose of connecting HSBC's clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Investment Analyst.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Provide fundamental equity research on Chinese equities with a specific focus on Consumer sectors
  • Provide industry research and macro analysis on the above-mentioned industries
  • Formulate and generate high conviction investment ideas together with written research reports and internally-derived financial models
  • Provide sector recommendations on a timely basis
  • Provide both offshore and onshore consumer sector coverage for the team
  • Exchange investment ideas with our regional team and China JV
  • Implement the research process in a disciplined manner and produce investment recommendations for the China Investment team
  • Ensure portfolio managers and senior members of the investment team are appropriately informed and updated on relevant investment issues related to the above-mentioned sectors
  • Assist in any equity related queries from any client accounts
  • Participate in client liaison and marketing work when required
  • Foster and develop a professional and collegial working relationship with the related investment teams
  • Work effectively within the team-based analyst framework

Requirements
  • University Graduate in Business, Finance, Economics or related discipline
  • Solid experience in Chinese Equities, Consumer sectors, preferably from a buy-side firm
  • Solid experience in providing investment recommendations and advice to the investment team
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to follow investment processes with discipline and deliver logical investment recommendations to the investment team at regular stock investment meetings
  • Ability to regularly interact and communicate investment ideas and recommendations with team analysts, portfolio managers and country teams
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Consumer companies via non-financial & management contacts
  • Ability to access both global and regional macro drivers and Chinese government policies
  • Experience in delivering detailed financial models including IS, BS and CF models
  • CFA qualified preferred
