About Us

The IHS Markit Automotive - Supply Chain and Technology team is in search for a product manager, responsible for its customer facing platforms and tools. The role is to oversee all aspects of the platform strategy for a fast growing product line within the Automotive division at IHS Markit. The role encompasses all activities, from identifying market/customer needs (voice of the customer/voice of the market), through to developing a roadmap and delivering against the roadmap which you own. The role oversees four web-based platforms, which solve different challenges for multiple personas (suppliers, different departments at OEMs and financial community). The role reports to the Operations Director and is expected to collaborate with product owners, product development, sales team, external developers as well as other stakeholders

AutoTechInsight: A business intelligence platform providing access to a wealth of original research, analysis, forecasting and thought leadership on automotive technology, the vehicle eco-system, and the supporting supply chain.

AftermarketInsight: Daily news, insight articles, in-depth reports and data on the automotive aftermarket industry, analysing key trends in distribution, parc, servicing, replacement rates, aftermarket parts manufacturing and vehicle mileage.

Component Forecast Analytics (CFA): A data and analytics tool embedded in AutoTechInsight developed to provide current and prospective granular data on 150+ monthly updated components and subsystems as well as 80+ analytics to address specific workflows and questions that are common to those wanting to understand more about the auto supplier sector.

Features and Technology Benchmarking (FTB): A platform designed to provide any automotive stakeholder with visibility into current and future OEM technology and feature strategies backed by granular data on over 300 technologies based off IHS Markit's vehicle and powertrain forecasts. On top of a granular data at the model level, the tool also provides intuitive analytics to help benchmark individual models and brands, understand their strengths and weaknesses, identify gaps in a carmakers' feature offering and future must-have technologies.

Your Role
  • Platform roadmap ownership: With your input and input from multiple stakeholder, develop the roadmap for platform releases to bring value to clients, to positively drive revenue generation and stick within budget in the set timeframe.
  • High level requirement gathering: At a high level, document requirements and acceptance criteria from key stakeholders such as clients, sales, research analysts etc., suggesting a level of initial prioritization.
  • Development ownership: Monitor the progress of our development teams to ensure timely release of new products and functionality, including business as usual development. When needed, create more detailed documentation for feature development. Prioritization and provide visibility into burn-down and budget allocation. Understand the technology stack and evaluate how it compares to what exists in the marketplace.
  • Go-To-Market strategy: Engage with our marketing, product, sales and leadership teams to build robust Go-To-Market strategies suitable for each platform, persona and release.
  • Voice of the Customer: Maintain continuous customer interaction with all personas identified to ensure we are serving current and anticipated workflows and challenges in the market.
  • Internal and external demonstrations: Be the go-to person for the platforms, being able to articulate the value proposition for the various personas across all our domains (Autonomy, E-Mobility, Interior etc.), understand key functionality and explain how it can solve challenges faced by our customers.
  • Stakeholder communication: Communicate the roadmap, key releases and progress on build/budget to senior leadership, sales, marketing, research analysts, customer care and ultimately clients.


Among other activities
  • Competitor assessment and market research: Provide in-depth market, industry and competitive analysis and positioning, always with the aim to make platforms "best-in-class".
  • Data analysis: Utilise usage data, google analytics and bespoke surveys to create KPI's and identify behaviours which contribute towards the future vision and the effectiveness of development from a customer engagement and ROI standpoint.


About You
  • 7+ years work experience within the automotive industry, such as market data providers, OEMs and/or suppliers.
  • Demonstrable experience of bringing products to market and the management of full end-to-end product development process
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills able to engage and influence stakeholders at every level of the hierarchy on a global basis.
  • Proven revenue ownership in previous projects, particularly in an international context.
  • Ability to manage both abstract and detailed concepts and translate into action
  • Accurate analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Strong demonstratable problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for cars and automotive market dynamics.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Trello or Jira highly desirable
  • Familiarity with data visualization a huge bonus
  • Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); understanding of data pipeline helpful but not essential.
