You will become part of Robeco's Sustainable Investing Center of Expertise and will be functionally reporting into the Head of Sustainable Investing, who is based in Rotterdam. The SI Center of Expertise consists of 37 sustainability professionals based in Rotterdam, Zurich and Hong Kong and it is focused on SI Thought leadership, SI Research, Active Ownership, ESG data and SI CPM activities. In this role you will be working closely with colleagues in Rotterdam and Zurich. You are eager to work for a global leader in sustainable investing, exploring how non-financial factors influence business performance on the one hand and investment returns on the other.

In this key role you will be responsible for Robeco's ESG data strategy. Together with stakeholders, you define the required sustainability data, its consistent use and its further development. In addition, you will play a key role in the evaluation and selection of data providers and the data quality of the identified sustainability data. Together with the business, you define the data usage within the organization and the methodology used to transform the data into financial information.

Your further responsibilities in this position:
  • Conceptual and operational responsibility for providing the evaluated ESG data, including its quality
  • Interact with various stakeholders within the organization to ensure adequate and consistent use of data and its interpretation
  • Implement quality controls for data usage
  • Drive the development of methodologies that transform data into financially relevant information
  • Dealing with bias and managing missing or inaccurate data
  • Data innovation
  • Coordinating data request and data processing with data management
  • Responsible for exclusion data and for reporting data, such as EUSFDR data

Your profile:
  • 5-10 years of professional experience in the financial industry
  • Master's University degree in business, finance, economics or equivalent, CFA designation an asset
  • Experience in developing an ESG data strategy, in-depth ESG expertise with extensive experience in interpreting and translating sustainability data into meaningful, robust ESG factors
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills to bring together different perspectives and requirements and translate them into results
  • A team player with strong attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness of delivery and an agile approach
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written language skills in English, German language skills are a welcome asset

The successful candidate is also a self-motivated and creative analyst with deep knowledge of financial markets, investment products and sustainable investing. Quantitatively strong, with a solid background in statistics you are able to share your knowledge in a structured way. Your are used to working independently in an international environment and to clearly represent your views internally and externally. Your further strengths include level-appropriate communication, quality awareness, an open mind, strong interpersonal skills and respect for different opinions and cultures.
