Job Description
The investment associate is responsible for a broad range of duties that will include client presentation materials, analysis, equity and fixed income research and market research. Additional duties include project and data management. The associate works closely with the portfolio managers as well as client service and marketing departments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparing portfolio reviews and presentations for clients, including portfolio characteristics, economic reports, market analysis
- Maintain and update performance composites on a monthly basis
- Assist equity managers with general equity research, narrowing in on sectors, industries and specific companies
- Maintain and update research databases for stocks
- Assist fixed income portfolio managers with analysis and data maintenance
- Participate in research meetings, bringing pertinent economic and market data to the attention of the portfolio managers
- Develop detailed financial models and analysis for sectors and specific stocks
- Assist with special projects as needed for clients, prospects or portfolio managers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; emphasis in finance, economics or a related field
- 0-3 years of investment management experience
- Superior analytical skills and understanding of investment concepts
- Proficiency in excel and powerpoint
- Ability to meet time sensitive deadlines and prioritize projects from various managers
- Strong commitment to ethics
- Strong work ethic – must be highly motivated and able to solve problems independently
- Strict attention to detail
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Strong ability for problem solving
- Team player – ability to work collaboratively with many different personalities across all levels
- Knowledge of applications such as Bloomberg, Morningstar, Tamarac, Zacks, is a plus
- Interest in or current candidacy in the CFA program strongly preferred
- Basic programming skills are desirable
