BlackRock Product Strategy - Platform Strategist - Associate /Analyst

The Credit Product Strategy team is a bridge between investment teams and BlackRock's client teams (and underlying clients). The Associate/Analyst will be responsible for the development, preparation and maintenance of investment content, as well as product, market and business-related materials for BlackRock's Global Credit business. The Associate/Analyst will assist with preparing for client and prospect meetings, including updating presentation materials, portfolio reviews and market updates. The Associate/Analyst will work closely with portfolio managers, credit analysts, other product strategists and internal sales teams on a daily basis, and will be essential to handling a wide range of requests. Through this role the Associate/Analyst will gain familiarity with the investment process and portfolio construction across our product range, the markets that we participate in and how we go to market across various products.

Job Purpose/Background:
The New York-based Product Strategy Team is looking for an Associate/Analyst to act as a representative for our credit strategies across public and private credit products. Specifically, the role will focus on the support of our range of credit solutions with a focus on projects for the broader platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work alongside Portfolio Managers, Senior Product Strategists and Investor Relations professionals to deliver a best in class experience for internal stakeholders, prospects and clients
  • Provide ongoing business support as directed for the Senior Product Strategists on the team in the pursuit of strategy and business growth
  • Learn about our investment strategies and how each strategy is competitive in the market
  • Create and maintain marketing materials including presentations, investor guides, fact sheets for all strategies and product offerings and disseminate information and data regarding our funds and products
  • Write market/investment commentaries for investors, shareholders, current clients and prospects
  • Gather competitive data, run fund analytics/risk metrics versus our competitors, and draft competitive positioning points for our strategies
  • Oversee, coordinate and/or participate in updating investor performance reporting
  • Partner with sales and marketing teams to assist in fund raising efforts and asset retention
  • Assist with internal projects focused on presenting senior management with business and market updates
  • Follow capital markets, current events, and investment trends; be able to speak to broad macro themes impacting global markets and the asset management business
  • Coordinate with internal sales teams as well as marketing, legal & compliance, operations, risk and portfolio analytics teams regarding ongoing fund operations, ad-hoc client inquiries and client investment due diligence requests
  • Evaluate performance attribution and communicate portfolio performance to internal and external clients
  • Participate in and lead the completion of RFPs for our credit strategies
Skills/Qualifications:
  • BA/BS, CFA designation or participation preferred
  • 1-3 years of total experience with experience in product strategy / development or client facing experience. Fixed income / credit / private credit or alternatives experience preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; be able to understand and clearly articulate sophisticated concepts, ideas, and processes
  • Detail-oriented, strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks while adapting to rapidly changing market environments
  • Experience in creating and maintaining content for marketing materials
  • Self-starter who can work independently or successfully with a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills & ability to coordinate between various groups including product strategy, portfolio management, credit research, retail & institutional distribution, legal & compliance, & other areas
  • Possess a polished and refined professional disposition
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), with particular proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint material creation and enhancement
  • Ability to synthesize data from BlackRock's proprietary systems in a way that is easy to understand and relevant for client discussions
  • Programming language skills are advantageous (e.g. VBA, Python, R)
