Alternative Fund Advisors (AFA) is privately owned mutual fund company established in 2020 by Marco Hanig and Mike Jancosek. The two founders are both seasoned mutual fund executives that have over 60 years combined experience successfully building and growing mutual fund companies. AFA will focus on bringing private asset classes to the financial advisor market through interval funds by partnering with best-in-class institutional managers with specialized expertise. AFA's first fund is expected to launch in May of 2021 and will be a Multi-Manager Alternative Credit Fund sub-advised by Aon.  

Alternative Fund Advisors (AFA) is seeking a highly motivated, bright and ambitious investment professional with a strong work ethic to join our team in the role of Chief Investment Office and Portfolio Manager. This position requires an individual who possesses strong interpersonal and analytical skills and can work effectively in a small team oriented, collaborative environment.   

Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management

  • Named portfolio manager for AFA's funds
  • Selection and supervision of sub-advisors and underlying managers of AFA funds
  • Asset allocation across underlying managers
  • Liquidity management and risk management
  • Participate in product development of future funds

Investor Communication

  • Key spokesperson for the funds
  • Contribute to growth of the firm through participation in marketing initiatives and prospective investor meetings
  • Author periodic thought pieces on relevant topics, fund commentary, blogs and webinars   

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of investment-related experience
  • 5+ years as lead or assistant portfolio manager of a mutual fund or LP that invests in either private credit or other private asset classes, alternative investment strategies, or non-investment grade public fixed income. such experience can be as a fund-of-funds manager or as a direct portfolio manager
  • Experience in manager sourcing, selection and due diligence
  • Experience with interval funds is a plus
  • Education: Bachelors degree or higher and/or CFA
