Private Equity Analyst (12-month contract)

Azimuth is seeking a unique Analyst for a 12-month contract to assist in the development of current and future funds. A career in Private Equity is challenging, fast-paced and rewarding. The successful candidate will work directly with members of the senior leadership team gaining an in-depth understanding of the energy sector as well as the financial and operational learnings of growing energy companies. The selected candidate must be comfortable working remotely for possibly all of the contract. Travel between the Calgary and San Francisco Bay Area office may be required, dependent on travel restrictions.

Job Description

  • In-depth energy sector industry analysis and detailed financial modeling
  • Generating and evaluating potential investment opportunities
  • Preparing industry materials and presentations for investment partners
  • Monitoring existing portfolio investments
  • Communicating with existing limited partner investors
  • Preparing and presenting recommendations to the internal Investment Committee
  • Updating and maintaining Azimuth’s energy sector databases


  • A minimum of one year of finance, energy or other relevant work experience
  • Advanced presentation preparation and financial modeling skills – strong command of the Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel
  • Prior capital markets experience in the energy sector is an asset
  • A university degree in business, engineering, physics or chemistry – enrolment in/completion of a professional designation program is an asset
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Works well in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Handles varied roles and responsibilities and meets deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and motivation; willingness to work long hours
